Think it's perfectly reasonable to single him out. For whatever reason he's turned to utter s*** this season, it's genuinely staggering how much he's dropped off from what he showed last season. The frustrating thing is it appears to be just mental issues. - the pace/skill is visibly there but it's like he's buzzing on cocaine, doing whatever fancy tricks he thinks of with zero f***s given about whether they work or not.
Thanks Mike for not buying a squad/getting Townsend in when we had the chance and allowing us to drop players out of form like Kenedy...
Exactly. It's clear he's emotionally given up on playing for us. He needs to go back to Chelsea and move on for the good of all parties.
Decent amount of skill, but skill is only part of the story. The mental aspect of being a player is huge, and it's clear he has minimal desire to learn or fight for Newcastle's cause. I'd take a player with less ability but a much better mindset like a Milner or a Hughes any day over someone whom it is clear doesn't want to be here.

You're forgetting the real asset this club has - a massive, loyal fanbase. Stadiums can be built, players come and go, but fan bases can't be built overnight.
A modest investment in the academy and training facilities, a bit of maintenance on the stadium and 5-6 new signings, et voila, a solid mid table club, hoovering up that TV money with 52,000 tickets sold every game and huge advertising potential. As a 5-10 year investment, the club could make someone a fortune.

Aye cos we often get battered under Rafa.
2-0 to them.
Got battered 3-0 by a terrible West Ham side earlier this month. Probably not a great leap in logic to suggest that the team at the top of the league might fill their boots against us.
-
At least 6-0. Not even going to follow it on here, let alone watch it. This is going to be a proper, lube-free, reaming.

How long before the club crest above the exit is replaced with a SD logo?

What is it with English keepers that when they become England's No. 1, they suddenly become turboshit?
Joe Hart-esque levels of decline from Pickford. It's like watching an U-9s keeper playing with the U-15s.

Very good Champo striker
Exactly this. We did the right thing by letting him go; he was awful in the PL. I'm glad he's doing well again in the Champo. Seems like a decent bloke.

Diame - 6 - Did some great stuff then messed up a lot. Probably a 7 really.
Perez - 7 - The lad works his socks off ( I know).
Rincon - 6 - Totally isolated. Feel a bit sorry for him that he has no sidekick.
If the problem is that Rincon is isolated, surely the blame lies with Perez, who should be playing off him, and Diame who should be the next player in to support?

Saw that on Ready to Groom. The cunts did their classic 'must be a merg' response to another fan who was anything other than 'in peyce'.

There is a lack of creativity in the middle. The only creative player we have there is Ki, who can’t create anything near the goal, like Shelvey he’s got to be a bit deeper to get his passes away. We don’t even have anyone who can run at the opposition centrally, hence why people think we should try Kenedy or Murphy there. If we had that today then I think they would have crumbled, as it was they were happy to have their 3 CB’s crowd out Rondon whenever a ball was played into the box.
This is my problem with Diame and Perez in a nutshell. Someone needs to be the central link between Rondon and our CBs/deep playmaker. Far too often they just go missing and don't try and find space in the middle. When playing against teams set to not concede, our wingers aren't going to beat a doubled up fullback/wing pair and Rondon isn't Crouch/Carroll/Dzeko and able to win aerial balls against 3 CBs.
Unless someone tries to get the ball in front of the opposition defence and create that defence splitting pass, we won't create any chances.
Cabaye used to be good at it, but we never found anyone else since him who can do it. Shelvey should be able to do it, but for some reason he stays far too deep and relies solely on 70 yard Hollywood passes.
It's something Rafa really needs to work out. We can hit teams on the break, but against teams set to defend (like when teams visit SJP) we just can't seem to break down a deep 4/5 with a screening midfield.

The ‘balanced’ left back is hard to find. Cole, Lahm etc. And although Cole was good going forward he wasn’t close to a Marcelo.
Players like Marcelo and Lahm would’ve come played in midfield for loads of teams. Lahm did iirc.
I agree with the person that said PD suits oursystem which is defensive first.
Rafa always puts a high price on defence, but he also wants a team that can pass out of defence. I don't think he would have wanted someone like Dummett in his Liverpool side for example.
No, I doubt he would have wanted Paul Dummett in his CL winning side. In the same way many fans would suck off a tramp to see some of 2005 Liverpool's players who weren't even in the 1st team play for us.

Why did we sign Muto & Murphy? Atsu and Ritchie provide absolutely f*** all.
I don't get why Muto doesn't get a chance. He looks like he's got something about him.
He must be f***ing awful in training or something to be kept off the pitch by some of the s**** we have playing for us.
I also don't understand what's happened to Ritchie. He's gone from genuinely dangerous winger to a shit version of Gary Speed with all of the good stuff taken out.

Every time I see her face:
I can't help but see:
who the hell is she?
Some odious m*ckem cunt who scrawls in the grauniad. Because there's nothing positive to say about her own club, she spends all her time trying to rake much about us, totally reeking of desperation in the process.

We did get lucky with one situation, mitro was through in the first 5 mins (given offside) and was onside.
But we 100% should have got a pen.
The problem is the ratio for wrong decisions against us to for us is about 5:1
5000:1
-
No shots on target for us?
90 mins against the worst defence at home and we manage zero shots on target.
Safe as houses, us.
We are so desperate for an AM and wingers who can break down parked bus defences.
-
It’s nice to like our goalkeeper again.
We were spoilt rotten for years with Given/Harper and then pre-injury Krul/Forster. Having to watch some of the utter shite like Alnwick, Sels and Darlow play was painful. Dubravka is sweet, sweet relief.

Shades of Ben Arfa.
Very very nice. Fantastic prospect for England going forward.
Frightening that this level of talent would have just been stuck featuring for Man City's reserve team.
City have got an insane squad. Their 2nd XI could blow away almost every other PL team bar maybe Liverpool and Chelsea.
-
Not the worst team we could have picked. Big fan of not playing Kenedy, but you all knew that already.
Gonna be a big test for Ki, having to carry Diame and Perez in midfield. Diame is due a performance, I hope he proves me wrong about him.
And for the love of god, Ayoze, please stay on your feet and try and support Rondon. If you do just that much, all is forgiven.
-
Name your price basically. That AC Milan back 4 would easily fetch £400m+ on its own.
The mid Nineties AC Milan team was insane. Class players all over the pitch.
-
Roberto Carlos isn't the undisputed GOAT in that position anyway really. There are plenty of other contenders above Carlos, with others who were defensively solid while still contributing going forward, most notably Maldini and even the likes of Ashley Cole.
Big fan of Maldini. I certainly rate him above RC. How much would Maldini cost in today's market?!
-
Isn't there a bit of a thing where decent LBs tend to move to other positions?
Didn't Bale start off as a LB, then progressed to LW and then to LF? Maybe that's a limit on how good a fullback can be? Everyone raves about Roberto Carlos be the GOAT LB. I mean, he was good, don't get me wrong, but compared to GOATs in other positions, he wasn't that good. He did those free kicks, but defensively he was a bit shaky.
Maybe it's a bit of a trade off between attacking and defensive ability? Maybe Rafa like Dummett because he fits in with our team's ethos of being defensively solid.
How much would it actually cost to get a LB who can do both? Unless we spend £30m+, I don't think we'll get an upgrade. Money that desperately needs spending on our front 4/5.
I agree with the above that it's a sign of the times that we still have Dummett, but as long as the FCB is still here, 'adequate' is good enough, and Dummett is just that.
-
There are plenty of cheapish LBs who are decently competent at both ends of the pitch but we spend f*** all on player
I don’t think this is true. In 15 years we’ve had 2 better leftbacks than PD.
Jose and Santon?

How we miss the days of Jose and Jonas actually linking up. We have no idea what our best left side pairing is at all.
