  1. The fact that we aren't in the bottom 3 is testament to how good a job Rafa is doing with such an awful squad.  We have one genuinely decent player (Dubravka) a couple of very promising CBs and a couple of passable players (Dummett, Shelvey, Rondon).  The rest of our squad is dead wood and could leave and not be noticed.  We have literally half a team at best, with the gaps being filled by players who aren't even up to the baseline bottom of the PL standard.

This is all the fault of the FCB, running us like his shitty 'sports' shop on as thin a shoestring as he dare manage.  If we had the money that he has milked out of the club spent on our squad, we'd comfortably be top half looking to push for top 6.

He's a cunt and the sooner he dies/fucks off the better.

  2. Fair play to him for the passion he's shown. Can't fault his attitude and never had.

I hope he gets the rest of him game together - he's got the ability, but just has no footballing brain.  If Rafa and his team can teach him how to play for the team, he could do a job for us, and I hope he does.

This is high praise coming from you, and I agree. He's looked off the boil this year but when he plays instinctively, and to his strengths, he contributes a lot to the team. And unlike the w*****s who've pulled on this shirt in the past, this lad runs his heart into the ground almost every game. For effort, you can't fault him.

 People are realising that when I say something is good, it better be pretty damn good.

He does have some instinct on the ball if it comes to him unexpectedly, but if he wants to play as a 9, he really needs to learn where to stand.  If he wants to play as a 10 he needs to learn how to get into the pocket and how to link up with a 9.  At the minute he instinctively plays into blind alleys and then ends up resorting to chucking himself on the floor, which doesn't work at NUFC.  He needs to realise that referees give us fuck all and if we want to get goals, we need to get them in spite of the ref.  He drifts out of games far too easily and too often goes wide when we are screaming out for someone to give a central outlet for the midfield/defence, hence Shelvey's over-reliance on 70 yard Holywood passes.

  3. There's no place for him if we're playing 3 at the back like. He can't play wing back.

I agree. He's either a LB in a flat back four or not in at all.  Problem is, I don't think we have two wing backs at the club.  Gonna be tough trying to shoehorn Scharrrr in unless Lascelles gets dropped, which I don't think Benitez will do.

Dummett is our new Shola.  He's here forever.

  5. Play Schar at LB or Clark. I'd rather a CB play there and just basically offer as little as Dummett does going forward or less than have Manquillo play there or moving Kenedy back there when he needs to be our X factor in attack.

Nah. Dummett is a solid fullback.  We could massively do without exposing our CBs by playing a winger as a wing back.  Just because he hasn't got sleeve tattoos and tries to do stepovers every game doesn't mean to say that he isn't an important part of the team.

Problem - Dummett is poor going forward.  Solution - play him as a LB rather than a LWB and try and get our wingers to actually add something to the team.

    What a surprise you're a Dummettista ;)

p*ss off you Perez loving melt!  O0

Not a Dummettista, but can see him for what he is - a limited defender who makes a passable LB, but can't be relied on to go forward with the ball.  A bit like Aaron Hughes was.

The only way we're going to get an upgrade on him is to spend £££, but there are at least 6 positions on the pitch a higher priority for a spend at the minute.

Aaron Hughes was a far far better defender and player than Dummett will ever be

Agreed.  But my point still stands.  Getting an upgrade on Dummett would cost money that we would be much better off spending on our front six.

  7. Hope he regains his form.  Noting that we have a couple of ball playing CBs, having a 'simple stuff' defender (noting that he hasn't been doing even this recently) should work very well.  For every Woodgate or Albert, a CB partnership needs a Terry or a Maguire to just keep the opposition out of the game.

Agree with most of the above though - if he doesn't sort it out he needs dropping so he can reset his position within the team mentally.  He probably thinks he's the big swinging dick in the changing room (which he partially is, as he's the captain) but if he gets too big for his boots and assumes that his starting berth is safe, he might end up being the next Danny Simpson, which nobody wants...

  9. It's certainly gone way beyond fans just thinking their team is hard done by.

A court of law would struggle to say there wasn't something bent going on when you weigh up the hard facts of the last few seasons.

This. No doubt in my mind that dodgy s*** goes on behind the scenes somewhere. The entire sport is rotten.

100%. The whole sport is set up to keep the money flowing, and if that means WWE levels of 'results management' by refs, the so be it.

Wouldn't surprise me if Dean had been paid off by Wolves. One of the worst displays of refereeing in memory.

  10. Had a look again this morning. Was canny bad like.

 There's loads of intent in the elbow. One of the most obvious red cards you'll ever see.

And FWIW, the red card wasn't - he wasn't the last man and they were both holding each other. Yedlin is very naïve for doing that as a defender where the attacking player is always going to be looking to fall over.

  11. He's a very good defender who has undergone a serious loss of form.

Whether it's due to the pressures of being Captain, the state of the club in general or something else, we just don't know.

I hope he turns it around soon, because at his peak, he's important for us.

As tempting as it would be for Rafa to drop him and revert to a flat 4, the fact he's the captain will probably prevent Rafa from doing that for now.  It must be weighing on Lascelles' mind that he owes Rafa a few performances, which probably doesn't help.
