  1. He is. He's has all the qualities Elanga has, maybe not as rapid but he's a playmaker first and foremost.
  2. £40-50m seems par for the course for a prem proven winger.
  3. Although having said that, I'm absolutely the biggest advocate for buying the Monaco winger who'd cost €60-70m so probably best ignoring me.
  4. Unfortunately the club have to make sure the numbers work first and foremost. Our reluctance to do that in the first instance nearly cost us 10 points and left us with 3 transfer windows without a first team signing, having come off the back of the worst season for injuries I've ever witnessed. You'd also expect there to be extensive scouting going on to negate the risk of buying a dud, but the risk of paying more for a player who will probably be a succes over a player who may not adapt to this league will always be greater when signing the former leads to extra expenditure that makes us breach the financial constraints.
  5. He'll be a very good signing, I think anyone saying he wouldn't is nuts but, and I know this is stupid to say, I'd have loved to have had an inspiring left field signng after waiting 3 years to fill that fucking position.
  6. Tbf, most if not all those players were signed from abroad.
  7. Irrationally annoyed we don't have more left footed players.
  8. Their model is to buy before they prove themselves and sell to bigger teams once they have - for inflated fees, thus being in a constant cycle of rebuilding. Their aim is not to build sustainable elite success but a sustainable business, which is why elite clubs can't use it as they're after instant success and can't offer the same platform and conditions to develop. Ironically, Brighton use the exact same model as the European clubs; buying relatively unknown and selling for inflated fees (relative to their league) to bigger clubs who want proven quality. The key difference between Brighton and those clubs (like Lyon) is with a PL proven moniker they can add another £20-30m to their price, where as in Europe you can buy the player of exact same quality for that amount alone.
  9. I don't think anyone's saying only shopping in that market will get you challenging, moreso that it's a tried and tested market for value and quality. The best players in the league were all brought from abroad. It's not a coincidence, it's a measure of some of the technical quality out there. The Brighton example is a tad cheeky too, they buy players before they prove their talent at any level, and coincidentally, their biggest sales have been to clubs vying for the champions league and more.
  10. Would be a good signing - completely uninspiring.
  11. Priced out for domestic league players shocker
  12. I know it's unpopular to say we want forriner but it's a black and white case of there being value there, and I'm honestly sick of being told we're pinned back by PSR, only to then spunk value on domestic based players.
  13. If he could finish
  14. I think Miley's career here depends entirely on him having a single 3-4 game spell where he's the standout player - as a replacement for Joelinton in the starting line up and nails a starting place as a result; glimpses from a 15-20 minute cameo will.never be enough. He will never usurp Bruno or Sandro in the line up, so unless he's able to show it next year, then I just can't see another 2-3 windows where that midfield is not strengthened to the point that his path to the first team doesn't becomes permanently blocked thereafter. Can I see him being able to replicate or improve on what Joelinton offers on the pitch? Can I see Howe rating him higher than Joelinton at some point next year? No, but extremely happy to be proven wrong.
  15. Will he though? Seems Willock is first change and if he's sold we're likely to go for a player who will be an improvement on him, so not only do I not see significant upturn in game time, but I don't see a moment in time where he'd get enough playing experience to reach his full potential. We have 2 of the very best CMs in the world and Joelinton isn't far behind, thats not a easy line up to break into.
  16. Tbf, I don't think it's a question of our development process, moreso that the standard of player we have in his positions is far too high for him to break into on any consistent basis.
  17. Unpopular opinion, but Miley will never get enough game time here to warrant him staying here.
  18. He can be coached. He's technically better than every player in our team on his day. His passing stats are something crazy like 91% which for a creative player is actuslly insane. Silva and Bernardo aren't physically imposing or particularly athletic but they knew exactly when and how to press and won more than their fair share of dues as a result.
  19. Howe turns £40-50m players into £80-100m players
  20. Think so too. By all accounts he's probably the most scouted player out of that list. Big gamble when he hasn't got the numbers to his name at this stage, but got us written all over I think.
  21. Akliouche Lee Kang-In Cherki Mbeumo Dibling Elanga Bobb Zhegrova Hold your nerves, lads
  22. Are either equally as good on both sides? If not, then I don't think this stacks up.
  23. Tino is the best defensive RB in the league I think. He's unsellable in my eyes.
  24. Mbeumo would have been a fantastic signing but I've maintained all along there are some fantastic options out there if we're brave enough.
