  1. Looks like it was that girls phone, but that doesn’t cover up the fact he’s an idiot for getting drawn into a situation like that when he’s earning massive amounts of money to represent the club/town he’s playing for

To anyone saying bring him home.. no, maybe don’t do that. Imagine the shit he’d cause saying something about Saudi or MBS.

We have enough dopes in our squad currently “Cous cous nonce”? We need to be bringing in players who can play but also have a brain.

    Absolutely this…

…and also this. But it’s not the tribalism itself that’s killing football. The tribalism IS football. It’s the lack of parity, gulf between top and bottom, and disconnect from the community.

We used to have OTT tribalism to the point where we were having pitched battles and organized rumbles. Now we piss and moan on the internet. I’m not convinced that the percentage of people that want their rivals to just not exist is any different than it was.

It’s just all broken. A couple of weeks ago I heard people on here talking about how they kinda liked West Ham right now. The club that basically got given a stadium on the taxpayers’ dollar, and in the process broke league rules and nearly obliterated Leyton Orient. Fuck them forever.

Growing up a football fan in London is instructive. We were mainly Spurs and Arsenal (and fucking Liverpool) in North London. I used to play footy on Stepney Green with loads of West Ham fans. At a certain level, the solidarity between grassroots fans will always be there, along with the tribalism. I will always remember dancing with and hugging an Arsenal fan at work when Campbell scored that (disallowed) goal against Argentina. Both the tribalism and the solidarity are there from day one.

Dunno if I can boil it down to a point. I guess that every team has at least two identities. The club itself, and the fans. They just seem to be further and further apart than ever.

There has always been a gulf between the top teams and the rest, what i think is worse now is that the corruption between the associations running football to keep the status quo.

It's repugnant. And out in the open at this point in time, nobody seems to care, least not the clubs in or around us, they seem happy to play second fiddle and let the bigger clubs set rules which prevent them from ever being more than what they are.

If we manage to stay up, this league will never be the same. Man Utd will have to be content feeding off the scraps of us, Man City and Chelsea. If they miss out on the CL this season they'll be dipping into their overall revenue, that can't last forever. And more importantly, they won't be able to call the shots for much longer

  3. I like the way he plays simple decisive passes when he gets further up the pitch, he's happy to skip past people but if he's at risk of losing the ball he'll just play the simple pass.

Unlike ASM who tries way too much and loses the ball repeatedly, it's frustrating as we don't currently have the midfield or defence to cover for that, but then the flip side is that he's capable of that moment of brilliance that wins a game for us.

If ASM can play off the shoulders of defenders and sprint through off Bruno G's eye of a needle passes we could be on to something, not really sure why they haven't been trying that with Shelvey as he's capable of a good pass.

  4. He will occupy the position Shelvey currently plays in but that does have other benefits beside the obvious upgrade.

Shelvey has rarely been able to drive forward and link to the attack in his time here, there’s always been a responsibility to sit in front of our back 4/5 and play that stupid “quarterback” role. If he’s given chances anywhere near the box he can hit them.

He gets sold in the summer though. He’s not getting any younger.

If Willock can find consistent form, that’s a midfield with the ages being 25, 24 and 22. Now that’s potential to build on.

  5. We’re being played by the media every single day of this window.

Make up a rumour, an hour later say a move has been rejected… clicks clicks clicks.

Every one of them are at it. Even the ones with the ticks.

  6. This guy is cut from the same cloth as Cabaye. Great passer of the ball, can bring it past people and not afraid to get stuck in and win the ball back.

Wonderful if true. Would absolutely transform our sluggish midfield.

  7. Just now, Thiago said:

Just curious, if you were to stick 5 euros on it, does Carlos move?

Yep, he's unsettled. We are desperate but we have time. The less of it we have the stronger Sevilla's hand will be.

We would need to be in serious negotiations with another player for them to blink first. Doesn't seem the case right now so the way I see it, they will have to pay the money. If he's that good, it could be cheap in the end.

  8. If Sevilla are continually moving the goalposts on price, this is just a way of the club letting the player and his agents know that his club are fucking about.

If he's already requested to leave, there's no way they keep him and then lose him for less in the summer. If they are serious about a push for the title they need happy campers.

    Pressure is on them.

  9. We’ve been a soft touch at the back for some time, opposing teams feel quite comfortable hassling and getting at our defenders because sooner or later they crack.

This guy will not be a pushover, he will need help for sure but he’ll bring a calmness to the back that we haven’t had. Also has excellent distribution.

  10. So we bid 25 million, then 28 probably and then upped it to 30, got him to hand in a transfer request and now his agents are at the club piling on the pressure.

Grim Ballbag says it will take 50-60 million for them to sell.

    We get him for 38.

Now if only we could have negotiated with Burnley like that!

Same here for Toontastic being my first NUFC forum. Migrated to Skunkers because, on there, if you called someone a cunt they didn't burst into tears.

Apart from Sa1ty, he got quite upset on a regular basis

  12. Someone is going to roll the dice on Bissouma, any court cases happening probably won’t happen for another year or so anyway but.. will the new owners want to be associated with that?

50 million could end up cheap if charges get dropped.

Being bailed twice suggests there’s something more to it.

Runours of a move to Milan are gathering momentum.

What I’m seeing is they will try and sign him in the summer. If we sign other players before then who gives a shit.
