  1. I guess if enough teams were stupid enough to vote it in under the current arrangements then there's not a lot more can be done. It's not like the objecting clubs can just go and play in a different league (not yet, at least)
  2. Crikey I agree with Stan's original assessment; if the meaning is clear then what's the problem? It's just not the case that if you're not writing in correct and formal English then your point is invalidated. Some people just make mistakes; some people are just lazy; some people genuinely can't do it. If you're getting irritated when people, for whatever reason, don't come up to your own personal level of what constitutes good English, even if their point is perfectly well made and clear, then it's you that has the real issue Anyway, about that 2021 deadline
  3. I'm not sure i want this saga to ever end, I'd miss the thread too much
  4. The Newcastle Online detectives were closing in on him, had to go to ground for a bit
  5. I vote we rename the site wildextrapolationsfromverylimiteddata-online.org
  6. PL have been awfully quiet since NUFC appointed the legal heavyweights about March. fixed
  7. Seconded. Thread is not the same when folk aren't posting about every flight out of Riyadh
  8. That's what I've thought for some time. No evidence whatsoever to support it, just like the thought
  9. Wouldn't it be fair to say that this is not a frivolous purchase but a key part of MBS Vision2030 plan? Are they cutting back on this project too? This keeps getting mentioned but I don't see how it has anything to do with the potential acquisition of NUFC. The main concerns with regards to Vision 2030 are: to diversify the economy away from oil (if this is related to that, there are far better options ROI-wise than buying a football club, especially in the current climate), improve the health sector, improve education, promote tourism (again can't imagine this would be enriched through buying nufc), facilitate more recreation activities and improving infrastructure. Hard to argue that buying the club ties into any of those goals in my humble opinion. You would surely level the same argument at the original purchase which they clearly were interested in, though?
  10. RESET THE POLL And where's Penn when you need a dose of healthy negativity, ffs
  11. I'm backing him to kick on quite a bit this season with less weight on his shoulders. I think this new role for him to support the striker will see him grow in confidence massively, and I'm of the belief that football at a high level is mostly a confidence game. agree with this. Pressure last year would have been intolerable, and it's already off to some extent with a debut goal for Wilson
  12. I'm not bothered what Ashley's motivations are at this stage, if I'm honest. The whole thing feels wrong and corrupt to me and I'd like to see the PL take a kicking about it out of principle, if there's wrongdoing to expose. I reckon this has been coming for some time and is the reason that the Premier League couldn't appoint a new chief executive for more than about 48 hours at a time Nobody wanted to be at the helm for this. That lad who stood down before he started desperately briefing his own personal life to the papers so he could stand down and not have to take on Saudi Arabia
  13. We should probably all just keep quiet until we find out what Penn[/member] thinks tbh
  14. Quite possibly, that was my first thought too. Probably an unpopular opinion but I hope he gets it tbh

Still there, the link here doesn't work
  16. This is really just a capital investment for PIF, not and emotional one like it is for us. If Staveley rings them up and says, "aal sorted lads, this is back on" then I can't think of any reason that they wouldn't just go ahead and make the investment as they were going to a couple of months ago. Are they still all following us on twitter? That's obviously the biggest tell
  17. I can't imagine Staveley and Co. being too interested in acquiring a team that's not allowed to play, in all honesty
  18. Man, i was just about to get some sleep as well. Will be up until 3 reading worthless speculation from all quarters now
