My information is the consortium are ready to go and their big plans can be implemented within weeks of getting the green light. Amanda Staveley is currently on holiday but if she finally gets control of the club it would be all business. Newcastle's critical situation on-the-field will require drastic solutions which they wouldn't shy away from. We have been in this situation before and too many times to say definitively the deal is edging closer to a conclusion. The separation issue remains. But the landscape feels more positive now than it has since the summer of 2020.

Probably getting excited for nothing, we'll see what Luke's piece says later. But can't help but get sucked into the hype!

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-10-06/saudi-arabia-said-close-to-lifting-broadcast-ban-on-qatar-s-bein Saudi Arabia is close to formally lifting a ban on Qatari sports broadcaster BeIn Media Group, potentially removing a major obstacle to the kingdom’s pursuit of U.K. soccer team Newcastle United FC, according to a person familiar with the matter. A decision could come as soon as the coming weeks, allowing BeIn to formally resume broadcasting its sports content in the kingdom, the person said, asking not to be identified discussing confidential information. Talks are ongoing and could still fall apart, they said. Any move to lift the ban would ease a possible takeover of Newcastle United by an investor group led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. BeIN has been a major opponent of such a deal, arguing to the U.K. Premier League clubs that the ban in Saudi and alleged piracy of its content in the region was doing massive damage to sports rights holders. The PIF group, which also included English financier Amanda Staveley and the British billionaire brothers Simon and David Reuben, abandoned a proposed 300 million-pound ($407 million) takeover of Newcastle United in July 2020, blaming the decision on a prolonged approval process and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. BeIn would no longer object to a takeover if the ban in Saudi is lifted, the person said. Representatives for BeIn, the PIF and the Premier League couldn’t immediately be reached for comment. Newcastle United is one of the best-supported teams in England and regularly draws crowds of more than 50,000 to its stadium in the northeast of the country. Fans of the club, who have become disillusioned by perceived mismanagement under billionaire owner Mike Ashley, have hoped for a new owner to invest in players and make the team more competitive. Newcastle United has not won a major trophy for more than 50 years.

Good move and long overdue. Point remains that arbitration is about separation between PIF and state (so state directors wouldn't have to submit to the O+D if separation is proven). Sentiment here is perfect imo

It's well-researched I'll give them that!

"Bruce was born in Corbridge, Northumberland, on New Year’s Eve 1960, but his family lived in Daisy Hill, near the Wallsend shipyards, their house backing on to a playing field. What he recalls as a child is “everything revolving around sport. I was never going to be an academic. When I wasn’t playing football, I lived for basketball or the rugby team. Cricket, too.” At Benfield School, a huge comprehensive that had recently opened, John Watson and Bob Hamil were two of Bruce’s PE teachers. “Aside from my mam and dad, they were the first people who really set me on this path. They ran the department. They were the start of football.” Watson went on to become a referee in the Football League." https://theathletic.com/2051951/2020/09/09/steve-bruce-interview-newcastle-united-manager-career/

"But I went to a couple of first-team games while I was there and Steve Bruce actually caught the ball during one of the games and the whole stadium started booing as the manager holds the ball. "When he threw it, they all started cheering and that's not the Newcastle I know.” Few words from Gary Caldwell https://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/not-the-newcastle-united-i-know-former-celtic-star-shares-behind-the-scenes-insight-3407727

I've seen this very nice picture from 2014 circulating by someone named after an airport - nice timing it's above

Trust is answerable to its members not social media, I get his point but wow it's written awfully. Like the stuff he said earlier
-
Also, if you don't pay £1 a year you have no say how the trust should be run - "I'm not any longer as I didn't feel as though the trust represented me." she said this in reply. I know what Holly especially has done with the London protests and her shows with Wraith. She's done a lot for someone her age and being told her thoughts are irrelevant's fairly jarring

Something like this

Taken from their about us page: "If the Trust believes that the Club is being run incompetently and not in the interests of the supporters the Trust will not be afraid to criticise." https://nufctrust.co.uk/about-us/ Is it in the best interests of supporters for the club, and the trust, to do nothing? The survey they've sent out, I'm not expecting lots, just them saying "90% of NUST members in October 2021 wanted Bruce to resign" and telling the club that. But at least it's something

He must have got carried away when it said 2nd October near the beginning. Shame it said 'April 2020' just a few paragraphs later

Happened in pre-season as well, came on and scored within 5 minutes!
