Just been on there myself, first thread I read was asking who others would support should Sunderland go tits up. First answer? Whoever is playing NUFC. Be horrendous for them if we start winning trophies, it’d hurt them more than any of their relegations or potentially going bust. We all hate Ashley as our sole purpose is to survive, no ambition at all. Their purpose is to hate Newcastle. Weird c***s. A joyful wearyside existence would genuinely be 17th in the PL season in season out as long as they 'beat the mags'. Admittedly 17th in the Championship looks a while off for them yet, but that's sad as f***, what a pathetic existence. And yet that would be their dream. s*** place, s*** club, s*** fans, hilarious inferiority complex. Nail on head

This!!

They saved £40-50m buying now, guess that offsets what will be lost in ticket money for next season. I hope you lot are right and this has been factored in all the way through this process. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest and be concerned that a global pandemic and the huge uncertainty around football in general could have some factor in a lengthy saga of the 300m purchase of a football club, whose income sources are potentially in question for the next however many months
-
I'm not sure where you've been but the deal is already agreed. Once the PL give the green light, the funds are transferred and the club is theres. Theres no waiting around to see when football returns. Also there is an argument to suggest this deal would never have happened if it where not for the covid-19 outbreak I agree but wouldn't all this process of buying the club have initially started around January? Sure I read that somewhere? Then when al this covid 19 kicked off they might still have expected football back by June and a transfer window in August and a new season to start in September. Now there seems to be noises starting about all that been in jeopardy
-
If it goes through I will be buzzing that Ashley has gone but the excitement will be dampened if football is off for months and no big signings can be made. It just seems crazy to be spending that much on a club with games behind closed doors at best for god knows how long and the tv money looking a mess as well. I know people don't agree but that's my oppinion that they are waiting to see if and how football will resume this week. If it transpires football is postponed for the foreseeable then don't be shocked if this takeover doesn't happen. People can laugh at that theory all they want but let's see what plays out this next week or 2 and I bet it turns out I am not far off the mark
-
Surely it's all linked into finding out if football is coming back!? The palace chairman has said if football doesn't return soon it could be a long long time before it does. Also who is going to be signing players on big contracts with no matches for the foreseeable future? Hopefully early this week they announce then premier league is back June/July then the takeover is announced a day or 2 after. If it turns out football is cancelled for the foreseeable future than I can't see how this will go through I really can't. Maybe when they started out they expected this to not be as bad and it to be back by early June at the latest.

Basically until there is a vaccine ready for use I can't see how football in this country can start without the major sacrifices that have been mentioned here. If they don't make any sacrifices then who knows what state football will be in by the time a vaccine is ready if it ever is.
-
It's been said on here already, I wish for them exactly what they wish for us. What do you think they wish for us, like? On RTG/Twitter obviously you'll get some morons, but in the "real world" I don't know any SAFC who wants NUFC to be a major failure. Just goes to show then. All the Sunderland fans I know wish nothing but misery and heartache for NUFC. Same
-
But it's not "safe to do so" until a vaccine surely, which could be ages away.
-
The question is without a vaccine what will make it feasible to start it in September if we can't now?
-
What you on about? It's a perfectly valid point. Maybe they aren't sending the 300m until we hear if and when the sport can return. It might be off for a year for all we know! There's obviously some hold up. As I said they haven't sent the money yet and I can't see them doing so until we hear about football definitely restarting or that is has. A perfectly valid oppinion so I don't see how that is being a WUM.
-
Amanda Staveley, the Reuben brothers and PIF. Time will tell on that. They haven't sent 300m yet unfortunately
-
No. What are they going to do. "Nar actually we wont bother as footy is coming back a few months later than we thought. Just keep the 17m deposit." This must be playing a massive factor in it though it has to be. And it could well be more than a few months until it comes back. It's already been 2 months with no realistic sign of it returning anytime soon.
-
I agree. It's a farce. They should just come out and say it's done until if we get a vaccine as that seems the case now. Also who is going to transfer 300m for a club with no matches anytime soon?
-
But then where is the line? When and how can it start again? If that happens then football is basically finished until if and when a vaccine is found
-
Does anyone else think this is all done and agreed but they are waiting on confirmation of when and actually if football will be back anytime soon? Seems crazy to hand over 300m when football coming back even behind doors seems a long way off. Not to mention a transfer window and people moving countries etc

3 Brighton players have tested positive now

I think the Sliding Doors moment was actually them staying up in 2016, their trajectory has been nothing but downward since that moment. But but we sent the mags down marra I remember arguing with some mackems long into that fateful Monday night how within 3 years we would be back in Europe and have a full stadium whilst they would be in the championship with 20k empty seats. I wasn't far wrong
-
I dunno. It's not like it would have been the jackpot of promotion to the PL. Going up the championship can't be worth much at all surely?
-
Depends how we would plan to set up I guess, 3 at the back then maybe... he'd be in contention with Lejeune though because there's no way he gets in ahead of Schar and you need a Fede/Lascelles type in there too. Yep. He's not a patch on Schar, Lascelles or Fernandez like
