Pre-season (2025/26) - NUFC to play Atletico Madrid in Sela Cup

Im allergic to mint - gives me bloating and heartburn -
So they’ve bought the club for £300m, spent over £400m / the maximum they can spend on players since the takeover, been seriously buying good acedemy players and your pushing to question their intentions because there’s nothing written on the back of our shirts?
-
Don’t think it’s ever come down to us being happy and thinking it’s not needed but it’s always come down to resources and priorities.
-
To be fair football365 have been having digs at us all summer
-
If he can then fantastic - everyone’s a winner
-
We can only achieve what we can - as long as we look stronger at the end of every window and everyone’s pulling in the right direction then we all have to trust the process and accept that. Fact is it seems we’re spent up and just as much as you don’t want miggy - no bugger else does either (or Wilson or longstaff) so we’re struggling to generate cash for that position. In my opinion if we can only buy one more then it has to be a CB.
-
Its easy in here to say just switch Gordon over but his stats on the left are crazy and he’s made that position his, 21 goals or assists and scoring against all of the top four I think it was and you want to just swap him about? Not for me - the rw does need someone but we’re not made of money and the amount of goals we conceded last season is a bigger issue to Howe it seems. You concede every game so the forwards have to score at least two to have any change of getting three points then no matter who you have there- you’re gonna struggle.
-
I know we’ll never make top four with just him and miggy - never have, never will - oh wait a minute!! We also would have got CL last year as well if pope hadn’t got injured (in my opinion).
-
He was at Chelsea and left so why would he want to go back? I genuinely think if he had the one from us and them we have a great chance of getting him to agree.
-
Me personally around £55m but id really like to know the budget and what it leaves us for as RM and none of us do. I am also very cautious of PSR now and think we should maybe once more offer and walk away.
-
So has Gordon (reportedly), say he did would you be happy if we let him go at a cut price? I bloody wouldn’t. End of the day he’s Palaces player and I’m just saying by petting us in their positions I understand
-
I’d we had a highly rated England player who was only 24 and just had an amazing euro, had a twenty percent sell on clause and we let him go for £50m whilst his stock is high this place would go mental.
-
That has nothing to do with what I’m saying - what I’m saying is if they accept £50m then they only have £40m to replace him. That’s really not a lot.
-
Bearing in mind Chelsea reportedly have a 20% sell on clause then £50m really isn’t enough for palace.
-
There will always be some but the number of deals is right down on every window it seems. And a lot of them were forced sales that normally wouldn’t happen.
-
He’s not wrong - at the moment there’s a bit of a stalemate as every club is wanting to sell at old prices but buy at knocked down prices because of par. Something needs to give.
-
He’s probably trying to calm the expectations- every window some people expect us to spend £150m upwards and it can’t be feasible
-
He only has two years left on his contract I think, his value will crash next year if he doesn’t sign a longer deal.
-
We’re like a point of Guinness at the moment where half our squad naturally float to the top and the others sink to the bottom. We won’t sell many and will just have to wait until contracts run down.
-
Where there’s a Will - we’ve a way
-
Agree on all of this - been a great player but I’d on the decline, getting on and only one year left, not even worthy of a conversation to be as it’s that much of a no brainier to sell.
-
Question is if he wasn’t our player and we had the opportunity to have him for one year for say £8m upwards then we take it? If no we have to sell for that kind of offer as he only has one year left, we need to get better at selling at the right time.
-
So you don’t think being that constant outlet then often gathering the ball, driving down the left putting them on the back foot before making space to either get a shot off or assisting someone else isn’t being creative. What do you want him to do, stop and bake a cake whilst doing it?
