I think the fact Trafford obviously won't want another season with Burnley in the Premier League is a big factor in this saga. He won't want to tarnish the reputation he rebuilt last season by staying with them. The problem will be that we aren't the only ones who will want to sign him, unlike last summer.

The gears are starting to turn now. The gears are fucking massive though so it's going to take a while for the wheels to get into motion. Really pleased if this goes through. £10M more than we could've paid last summer but he's arguably more proven and experienced, plus he's seemingly improved since then so I suppose it's fair enough. Yes Gordon would probably be the only one of that lot who could be sold for a good chunk and we wouldn't have to immediately replace him if those four did come in. I think we'd have just about enough, wouldn't be ideal though.

There's absolutely an argument to be made that Peps way of playing is on the way out. So if Howe is looking to double down on the transitional style of play then obviously Elanga is perfect for that, as is Trafford and Guehi. Doesn't help us with the problem we've had so much this season though, breaking down teams who sit back in a low block.

Joao Pedro, Elanga, Guehi and Trafford is an incredibly expensive quartet of players. That's £180M roughly spent right there. Absolutely no way on earth we are doing that in one window. I could see two of those coming in absolutely but not all four. Even selling Willock, Longstaff and Pope (£40M at best between those three) wouldn't cover it, because then we'd need to sign another two CMs anyway.

Not sure anyone knows, that partly his issue. He's played mainly CAM but also CM (as an 8) and RW a bit. Maybe we'll see him at his best this summer. It's a very good England team with a lot of experience.

Crazy really. Considering how consistent he's been over the last 3/4 years it's surprising he hasn't got a "big" move. Spurs or maybe Man United could've done alot worse considering.
