If we can get him somewhere between £50M and £40M, preferably under £45M that's fine. He's worth a four year deal at that price, no doubt about it.

It's not about that, it feels like he's allowing himself to be used as a pawn. If that's what he's chosen that's fine but he's lowered himself if that's the case.

Can't always get what you want. They won the league last year without a proper striker. As I said, it's not like it's Isak or no one for them, as we've seen from their "interest" in Ekitike. They won't get Isak so they'll have to look elsewhere or change how they play slightly. Rodrygo has been rumoured in the last hour or so for them.

They've got very few options tbh. One of the reasons Isak is so valuable is because world class strikers are few and fair between and amongst that there's a couple who are just TOTALLY off limits (Haaland/Mbappe). So they have to either go for someone extremely expensive and difficult to obtain (Isak) or risk it and go for a young one (Ekitike). Or the other less popular option is a stop gap like Mateta/Rashford/Watkins I'm surprised they don't want Sesko but a lot of clubs seem to be avoiding him this summer.

BILD and some other places reported this morning we made a second offer of £80M (they probably meant €80M). Which just so happens to be what his *reported* release clause is.

The hope we've got to have is that Liverpool aren't dumb enough to go over the release clause (Which we've already met if reports are true) AND that Ekitike wants to join us over them. If those two things go our way, we'll get him.

The fact that historically we just aren't allowed to have nice things is pretty much the only thing worrying me about this whole scenario now. Isak and Ekitike was just too good to be true so yeah obviously there had to be a sting in the tail.

Saying any other ST puts us backwards is absolutely true. But we wouldn't be spunking the Isak cash on one player, that would pay for a billy big striker and then 3/4 real top quality players over a couple of summers. Which in turn makes our squad alot better.
