But that is exactly why you need a left footed LB. So that they can provide the width when Foden drifts inside. He's only the problem because Shaw isn't available.
-
It really was absurd not to bring another recognised LB. I guess maybe that's why he took Gomez and not Branthwaite in hindsight. There's going to be a huge opportunity for someone over the next season or two to take that England LB spot for the next World Cup.

Why is she shouting so loud? She's got a microphone.

What they say in public and what they say in private will always be two very different things when asked questions about their performance. Especially when they haven't actually lost a game and have already qualified from the group. They clearly know it's not been perfect, from Southgates comments post match you can tell he knows it's not going to plan. But I'd be hugely surprised if he actually makes any sweeping changes to tactics that he's no doubt been working on since the 2022 World Cup.

3 points but minus 3 GD for Hungary might not be enough. I think there will be teams with the same points but better GD and there will definitely be teams with 4 points who finish 3rd also.

Could be offside yet.

Feel sorry for whoever is sat within a few feet of them bagpipes. Sound of the fucking devils farts.
-
You've got to respect them only trying to take players who are more or less Scottish though. Wales and Ireland consistently pinch English born players and they are still shit anyway.
-
Just like 99% of countries outside of the top 20 in the world, they have no discernable goal threat. They rely on hugely on set pieces and beating teams 50 places below them.

Plenty of lads in my Sunday team look like that even when we aren't short of players....

Always a higher bar (rightly or wrongly) for fouls inside the box. Probably wouldve got that if it were anywhere else on the pitch. Just a bit soft from Armstrong, he could've got the shot away .
-
I can 100% understand why they are told that but you've got to read the room(stadium). A broken leg, fine whatever just walk , but anything spine, neck or head related, just get on with a little haste at least.
-
Must be some sort of neck injury, I really couldn't see him get any contact on the head.
-
Absolutely absurd they were just sauntering onto the pitch. Surprised the subs didn't grab it off them right from the off.
-
Even reminding it I've not been able to see what happened at all. He didn't seem to collide with anyone but he clearly wasn't conscious when he fell to the floor looking at how his arms were positioned.
-
He has played both sides. He isn't predominantly one or the other BUT he is right footed so you'd assumed hed be a Schar replacement. Has played very occasionally as LB and RB. Botman - Tomori as a partnership would be as good as anyone could hope for without being in Europe.
-
Just a starting point I'd imagine. They know no one is paying that for him. I even remember seeing an article a couple of months ago stating how he'd be available this summer for a "cut price of £25M". Bearing in mind he was being looked at by Arsenal and Man Utd 2 years ago and they were told £75M.

This type of signing has been hinted at by Howe over the last 6 months. We cannot afford to bring in 4/5 players at £50M/60M each. We'll need a couple of free transfers and then a couple of these type of ones, proven Prem players at £20M-£30M. If we're really lucky we might get one bigger name in for a big fee BUT only if we sell all the lurkers (Miggy, Wilson, Dubs, maybe Longstaff).
-
Wharton more likely. Mainoo is more of a runner.
-
I can understand him not picking Hall. But the others (and Chilwell) are established Prem LBs.
-
The most frustrating thing for me is that I cannot believe we genuinely don't have an English left footed LB that could've played in these 3 group games until Shaw was fit OR for the whole time we're in it. Tyrick Mitchell, Rico Henry?
-
I would've been far more pleased if this was 0-0. At least then I could spend the evening thinking, well we haven't conceded so that will bode well in the knockout games. But alas here we are instead.
-
It's been happening for years and years lads. Its not just down to Southgate or Foden or Trent. They are just the faces for this years unfortunate series of events. If you need any convincing, I'll just leave this here. We've all heard it enough times over the decades, it's the way England do football tournaments. [Spoken Intro: Alan Hansen & Trevor Brooking] I think it's bad news for the English game We're not creative enough, and we're not positive enough

Wow. Stones and Walker dicking about with the ball when there's 10 seconds left. Unforgivable, whip the ball in man.
