Unconvinced by his abilities (in that he's a 40-45m player). Whether having his head turned has affected his game or not impacted this I don't know. Came across well in his interview to be fair. Surprised me!

Not changing my opinion now just because he's signed Hope that he proves me wrong! Whatever you think, it's now time to get behind the entire group as they push for some form of European football.
  3. Absolutely better off the ball and to put a shift in that on the ball. Can't help but like the lad, despite obvious limitations. Wouldn't want to see him in the starting XI every week long term, but great squad player when competing on multiple fronts. Re: seeing mistakes. I think you can see all players mistakes much more now, since there are undoubtedly fewer. They seem to stand out more under Howe and I think that's credit to how well we're playing.
  4. This made me laugh way more than it should have.
  5. We need 3 bodies in, who are capable of producing in the XI. All 3 don't have to be starters, but we need better quality on the bench. Our midfield and forwards look leggy. Right now, if we switch someone out, in comes Murphy, and Chris Wood in matches gone by. That gap needs to close. I don't care if it's moving a Longstaff/Willock to the bench or having a similar standard player that can rotate.

I think he was referring to the club being angered at the rumour of him being offered to clubs. It's poorly written (or maybe well written and ambiguous so he can jump around to suit any potential outcome)

Not a lover of this at all. Didn't want to go anywhere near him, DCL or Mctominay. I don't see the value in any of them. But I'm happy to be proven wrong by his performances in black and white (if the move happens). I've been wrong plenty of times before
  8. Think we are in real need of a CM and a Winger this January. Anything else is a bonus right now. Big Joe and Bruno should be in the middle with the CM. Joelinton much better as a CM and not a winger. Longstaff and Willock as subs or rotation players. Isak to start with Wilson on the bench. Almiron/ASM/Winger to rotate.
  9. That could have put my heart rate back down to 100 BPM, but it shall remain at 140 ?
  10. If we go in for Gordon, DCL or Mctominay I might throw up...
  11. Man Utd have spent some shocking money in recent seasons. The Pogba fiasco, followed by Fred (60m euro), Maguire (87m euro). Bissaka (55m euro), de Beek (40m euro), Sancho (85m euro plus add ons), Antony (95m euro). Jury out on Martinez and Varane's crocked. They can only really count Fernandes and Casmeiro as being successful big money transfers.

I'd be ill too if I'd just swapped Australia for Scotland. going from an Australian summer on the beach to a Scottish winter must be a shock to the system
  13. Not good enough, if we are honest. Seems a great character, and I do think he genuinely tries his best every minute he's on the pitch. Can't help but wish him well at Forest. Lower Premier League side / Championship contender is probably his level.
  14. Really going to enjoy the two legs. The second leg at home is going to be very special.
  15. Christ, how is he still 30?! Is it just me or does it feel like he's been around forever?
  16. Seems like Brighton are to Chelsea, what Southampton were to Liverpool at one point. Fair play to Brighton though. If this comes off they'll have took c.150M off Chelsea, which if invested wisely could set them up with a good core for years.
  17. Some great reads in here. Really enjoyed reading this thread this evening. I'd be definitely up to meet some of you the next time I'm at a game (getting tickets is bloody hard now like!)
  18. I grew up near Sheffield. My Dad always supported Sheffield United and some other members of my family supported Wednesday. They all took me to games, but I didn't remember them and was never too interested. I remember watching the semi final of the FA cup with my dad in 1998 (Us vs. Sheffield United) and remember cheering for Newcastle. Before you know it, we were in two back to back finals. With the heartbreak that followed. I then went to see Newcastle at Hillsborough when Wednesday were in the Premier League. I just wanted a shirt. I got one -- Brown Ale sponsor, miles too big. Followed by the NTL one. I met Bobby Robson outside of Hillsborough. He was amazing with me and was talking to my Dad. He signed everything I had as he was talking, ruffled my hair and then gestured at both Dabizas and Shearer to sign. After convincing my mum and dad to take me to Newcatle and SJP, I fell in love with the city, the club and the crowd. I remember walking through the city and having my photo took, and I felt an overwhelming sense of belonging and pride. A very weird feeling as a small kid. The first time I'd ever experienced it. We walked the stairs to our seats, and I remember coming out on the concourse and hearing the crowd and I fell immediately in love. I've been coming back ever since. I didn't make the trip so much under Ashley's reign to be honest. No one wanted to go with me, and no one would make the trip. My long term girlfriend isn't from England and she never got my love for Newcastle. Until last year, when I convinced her to attend the Burnley game. The first win that kicked off our season. I was then back for the Villa game. At the full time whistle, I'd not heard SJP roar like that for many years. I remember being really emotional and trying to hold it in (I know!). She turned to me and said "I get it! Can we come back?". After the Burnley game, we went drinking with some fans we'd met and had been talking to for hours. She didn't understand a fucking word they said, but loved every minute. There are now 2 Newcastle fans in our home.
  19. Imagine spending 47.5m on a player to ship them out months later...
  20. Raheem Sterling being shopped, apparently...
  21. Not at his best today, but not many can be a 7 out of 10 every week. He's one of our most consistent performers, so I'm not fussed at an off week. He's quality.
  22. Him coming back is like a new signing? ?
