We’ve got enough top names in the side just look at Bournemouth for example picking up cheap diamonds. Even 1 big signing and a few with top potential would appease us.
-
Lad was quality last night and Saturday too.
-
Get him in the scotland squad
-
Time for us to dip into the striker market in January if we want to compete then unfortunately as good as he is we can’t rely on Wilson or even Isak for that matter. Of course we need to backup in other positions but I hope we can see some young lads step up and make a claim.

Not too sure I 100% agree with it in it a sense. Owning multiple clubs isn’t correct. But like Brighton have linked up with a few teams and some other clubs too, so that they can send players on loan for experience or work permits etc. I like that idea and see us making use of that as Ashworth did with Brighton. However not the Watford and udinese kind of link of swapping about players for dodgy fees that’s wrong.

Not even convinced we’d have stayed up 2 seasons ago

A comment made back in august? Before Livramento had even played a game for us.
-
Did you not read the part where I said Livramento has been excellent? Nobody knew when we signed this lad we’d then have a chance at signing Livramento. So the plan was no doubt for Ashby to be next in line. Livramento becomes available that situation has changed most likely.
-
I’ll stand by what I said. We chased the lad for 6-12 months so we know he has talent. He looked very good in pre-season. From my view as Livramento hadn’t played much until now (who by the way looks excellent but has PL experience) it looked a bit silly to spend 40 million on a player at his age to warm the bench when someone maybe not as good as Livramento could have did the what he was doing and spent the 40 million better elsewhere. The boy could be a potential scotland international maybe that’s why I like him and hope he does very well but I want all Newcastle players to do well. Are we going to write off Lewis Hall already because he hasn’t started great? No because we get behind all the players.
-
Started 7 games 1 substitute appearance and 6 on the bench. With a goal and assist. Don’t you want him to do well ?
-
Was posted in the transfer rumour thread but belongs here too. Exciting to see us so pro-active on the youth/academy this season.
-
Nothing tonight then lads?
-
Decent back up to Botman? Not saying we should’ve went for they players but there are definitely players with the same background etc available that we could look at to beef up the squad.
-
Disappointing to see other clubs around us making some very nice moves and us just kind of letting these deals pass up by. Fati to Brighton and Lenglet to Aston Villa. When is deadline day this year.
-
We wouldn’t have signed him at the age he is if we didn’t view him going into our starting 11 in a few seasons, he’s had some experience with West Ham and Scotland u21 level. Just think it’s pretty silly to sign him and he looked very good in pre season and then spend money 40 million on another right back the same age money could’ve been spent better elsewhere.
-
I’m actually a lot more excited about Ashby than I am Livramento. Don’t think it was really needed to buy him for 40 million when we signed Ashby with the view of him taking Tripps place.

Yankuba Minteh (now playing for Brighton & Hove Albion)

Anyone watch the game today? How did he get on I seen they were up 5-1. -
I enjoy watching it as a toon fan of course. And enjoyed what I’ve seen but it all seems a bit rushed and missing a fair bit of the season.
-
I know we all want massive signings myself included but we have a very very strong squad this season and we seem to have become a lot more ambitious with our youth signings. I don’t think we have signed a CB from AC Milan to just fill up our u21s it’s with a view to progressing into the first team like the rest of the lads.
-
Mentioned him a few times before be a great addition.
-
Once Hall is through with it being a loan I think we have done that to of course allow to possibly make 1 more signing and money there if needed. Gives us more time to try shift the likes of Fraser, Hendrick, Manquillo, krafth, Hayden etc and get us some more wiggle room.
-
I must admit I’m absolutely loving the transformation of our academy and quite clear to see for the u21s and 18s it’s paying off pretty quickly with having a proper system and good people in charge of it. We seem to be operating like the other top academies (Man city, Man U and Chelsea) scooping up the best talents in the country and UK. I’m sure plenty of these lads will make an impact for us in years to come or make big profits.
-
I think signing Tierney would be a great addition. Him working with Eddie would just bring him to a totally new level and a good bit closer to home for him too. Anytime I’ve watched him for arsenal he’s been very, very good and even better for Scotland. Just watch what he done against Spain to set up mctominay. He can also operate as a LCB if need be especially in a back 3 if we need to switch things up.
-
We’ve got Willockinho to do that job and also Elliot Anderson to cover in there too. With Longstaff as another back up. Champions League may take a lot out of us but crucial to find someone to compete at the back with Schar and a left back (Tierney please). Tonali be a quality signing plenty of height in the middle to compete and can be considered an elite player.

Can we start signing some players though for the 18s and 21s
