  1. I'd be tempted - the lad is seriously talented. Having said that, I'd still take Gordon. But I don't think it is open-and-shut.
  2. Hmm ... I mean, these are NUFC-only stats aren't they? It isn't exactly telling much of a story. I'd expect that the first-choice left-sided forward would be second-highest scorer. Murphy and Barnes are joint-third, because they're also wide forwards.
  3. Luis Diaz, Son, Gakpo, Martinelli, Trossard at present without thinking too hard about it. Doesn't mean Gordon is a bad player; he's clearly a good one, and he would be difficult to replace. But I'm not seeing what you're seeing re him being a potentially world-class one.
  4. It wouldn't be good news, but we're not exactly short of options at LB. Hall is clearly our best LB and along with Isak and BDB has been a stand out this season in terms of consistency, but the season is hardly lost without him.
  5. That looks like an insane price tbh
  6. B, but borderline C this season
  7. He’d need more than one bullet these days, sadly - I wouldn’t trust him to hit the target with one effort
  8. Mind, if I looked like Wilson AND wore the NUFC no.9 shirt then I’d be more in love with myself than a coked-up pop star
  9. I think the first XI is going to come out pretty well tbh - and I’m not sure how many on here would swap our squad for Bournemouth, Forest or Fulham’s.
  10. Heartbreaking this one. I’m oscillating between a D and an E. I’m going to go with E. Damn shame, superb CF for most of his NUFC career. Yes, he was injury-plagued - but a regularly fit Wilson doesn’t sign for Ashley’s NUFC in any case. Still love the lad - I think he wore the no.9 with distinction for most of it (and he was the no.9 even when he wore 13).
  11. Perhaps, though I think the lad has enough to win plenty of England caps. He’s not developed as most of us probably hoped he would over the last year or so - but he’s still young.
  12. You didn’t, but the lad should be aiming to be that given his talent. This isn’t the first time he’s made a last gasp howler.
  13. I agree, though neither needed to bring in big money to offer the chance to make some serious signings. In an ideal world, we don’t have these conversations- but we know the shite hand we’ve been dealt. I’d like Howe to be given the chance to finalise a squad rebuild - and given the finances, that’s going to involve selling
  14. Both Howe’s eye for a player and ability to coach is why I’m not at all concerned about a big clearout in the summer - and not just of squad players. I wouldn’t blink if he sold a couple of ‘purples’. I’d hope that there won’t be too much shitting of pants should that happen.
  15. We would if we sold Murphy. But I think the idea of selling Murphy at peak value in the summer is valid - he’s unlikely to repeat this season.
  16. Something which top players don’t do
  17. The downside of it all is that Howe clearly has an excellent eye for a player, and is a first class coach. His lack of ruthlessness could be an issue
  18. Sure, though it’s only hindsight if a party isn’t aware of the rules or our finances - and the club would (should) have known that better than anyone. Some of us did express these concerns at the time.
  19. You wouldn’t get the same for any of them today what you would have got then. And with the weird way FFP works, it would’ve been possible to buy more expensive players than the value of those sold.
  20. The issue wasn’t not selling in 21/22, though - the issue is not selling subsequently. The squad Howe inherited included Wilson, Joelinton, Willock, ASM, Almiron - all of them could’ve been sold for a tidy sum in 2023 (thanks in no small part to Howe’s coaching). We didn’t sell at their peak value.
  21. It’s not going to get him off from putting his hands into another player’s face. If anything, it makes it worse - it’s a bit of shirt-tugging.
  22. That would require communication, so that won’t be happening
  23. That picture wouldn’t provide any defence at all tbf
  24. Sorry TCD, not the case. Best not to rely on that dodgy Wikipedia page on this one. And they won their 8th in 2000.
