  1. We don’t look like qualifying for the CL or EL let alone ‘going far’ in it. From memory, player amortisation will be well above £100m even before new transfers come onboard. Wages are currently around £200m. Our income will be around £300m. I’m not seeing how you’re getting close to £250m in transfers, I have to be honest.
  2. ?; ?; ?; Beharall; Caldwell; Perez; Given; Harper; Caldwell; ?; ?; ?; ?; Hamilton Ketsbaia; Serrant; Robinson; Lee; Barton; Hughes; Domi; Glass; Maric; Andersson; Dabizas; Pistone; ?; McClen Solano; Dyer; Speed; Marcelino; Ferguson; Goma; Charvet; Shearer; Dumas; Griffin I can’t believe how hard I’m finding it tbh - having a massive brain fart with some of them
  3. Your best bet in Newcastle - assuming that you have the space - is to incorporate other forms of entertainment into the stadium. Hoy in a casino, several bars and restaurants, all that sort of stuff. If we built on, say, Castle Leazes, there’s nowt at that end of town. Also add a hotel etc. You’d want to absolutely maximise income. We’re not going to get NFL games a la Spurs - nee bugger would be interested. Newcastle is a city famed for its nightlife - make the club part of that, and get some coin in.
  4. I’d rather have 20k empty seats if we’re shit than 20k locked out when we’re good tbh
  5. Yep, sadly you’re right for me. Howe’s looked at said ‘pass’. It’s not like there weren’t other players who’d been ‘Bruced’ who were salvaged by Howe’s coaching. The lad just isn’t good enough, unfortunately
  6. Not sure I can even blame Bruce for this one - the lad was highly rated. He just hasn’t developed at all.
  7. ‘People know Paul Gascoigne but Gazza, no one knows. Even me sometimes. I've spent a lot of years being down, when I did my ligaments and then my kneecap, I missed four years of football. I would've got 100 caps (for England’ Worth remembering that the tackle which did the damage was completely self-inflicted, it was a leg-breaker and could have ended Gary Charles’s career rather than putting Gascoigne out for an extended period.
  8. Yes, it does. Which is why that post didn’t make a lick of sense. I don’t understand what exactly is being moved into Leazes Park

    England

I’d be tempted to pull Trippier out of that side and play TAA as a DM - go full-on W-M formation and have a real go at teams
  10. I don’t follow this. What exactly are they proposing? Also, Leazes Terrace isn’t the only issue. There’s St James’ Terrace too
  11. SJP is no more the city centre than the arena site. You wouldn’t go anywhere near it on a day out in the city centre if football wasn’t played there.
  12. It also means we’re likely stuck with a match day income around half that of Spurs. It wouldn’t exactly be a strong signal of intent.
  13. Just watched the game, really good performance, controlled from start to finish pretty much. Light years away from the last two performances.
  14. They’re not going to pay that to get around £70m back on the gate. It’ll be comfortably £200m+ for a temporary stadium with the barest of amenities. A 50k stadium isn’t going to just be plonked down - it would require substantial civils works to build it.
  15. Needs a pithy one-liner to accompany it, too.
  16. It has dated badly, and is visually unappealing
  17. I was thinking of that. You’re talking hundreds of millions.
  18. Building a temporary 50k stadium would cost almost as much as a new one
  19. Let’s be honest, the current SJP is this in a nutshell. It’s a brutalist building.
  20. That’s right - they had a huge support that day. It’s just one of those games from when I was a kid which sticks in the brain
  21. Some of Wenger’s buys changed English football mind. Anelka for £500k was unreal. So was paying 10% of what we paid for Bramble for Kolo Toure in the same summer (the big money we wasted in that period is piss-boiling tbh)
  22. Yes, KSA is a notoriously meritocratic place
  23. There are probably three or four Feyenoord fans like that, which the Mackems have blown out of proportion. The links are absolutely tenuous. Feyenoord are giants of European football. It’s a shite state of affairs that they’re being used for youth development for English clubs
  24. It’s not exactly difficult to get B&W stripes wrong. I bet they do though. Most of our adidas kits were rank imo.
  25. We win the title if we hang on at Blackburn. We would’ve smashed a mid table Spurs side last day. The atmosphere at SJP when Man Utd scored at Boro was the most surreal I’ve experienced in a stadium; you could feel the waves of nausea - like being on a packed ferry in choppy seas
