  1. I’d love it. I don’t think NUFC should be allowed to field a squad of players without at least one mercurial French winger in it - and ASM is often linked with a move away
  2. I’m with you on this one tbh. This is probably the best moment to maximise cash value for Miggy.
  3. Fair enough Kaka, looks like some of this has been mutual misunderstanding - but I’d still ask you to rethink the notions of English people generally not wanting black players in the England side. There are racists in England and racists in the press - but that doesn’t account for everyone
  4. I’m happy to say that I can see where you’re coming from re African & SA players looking elsewhere - no-one should be putting up with racist abuse anywhere in life, let alone on a football pitch. My point was always that I’m not bothered if English clubs can’t compete for the best players if it means we have better ownership models. I’ve no issue re the nationality of the players playing for NUFC - and the money reducing wouldn’t see a reduction in the number of foreign-born players playing would be my guess. I’m aware of course where tribalism can lead - but for me in football terms it’s mainly good-natured. Go to the Sunderland thread if you want to see what I mean - that’s tribalism but it’s just piss-taking rather than venom.
  5. PS Do you realise that racism is the attribution of qualities to a person based upon their race or nationality? As in ‘I know what x people are thinking, they’re all alike?’ You literally made a racist statement while claiming that you’re arguing against racism.
  6. I’ve never reported you nor anyone else - I’d rather just call you a prick and have done with it. ‘Don’t start with me’ - you’re not my mam. You completely misinterpreted what I said and decided to call me a racist - and everyone else with the same nationality by proxy. I said that I don’t care if the money leaves English football as I don’t watch it because of the money attracting the world’s best players. I absolutely did not suggest that I wanted an all-white English league. You decided to apply that interpretation.
  7. Tribalism isn’t fucking racism you fucking tit. I was talking about being from Newcastle therefore supporting Newcastle irrespective of the quality of the team you’re watching. It isn’t fucking race-based. People watching their local team regardless of whether they’re the world’s best side or bottom of the fourth division.
  8. To be clear: I’ve no issue with a KSA national playing for NUFC, moving next door to me, or marrying my daughter. Besides, if my other half and I had a daughter she’d be mixed-race, so it would be odd if I started banging on about racial purity, like the big daft racist that I am. I don’t like dictatorships putting money into football clubs - even my own. I’d rather this did not exist.
  9. It’s lain under the surface without ever going away - the ‘you can’t say anything these days’ brigade lacked a political mouthpiece. But the whole ‘I know what you all really think’ shite … If I came from somewhere which just recently nearly voted in Bolsonaro for a second term, I’d be careful about sweeping statements. I don’t think all Brazilians are racists and homophobes because they decided to vote in a racist homophobe.
  10. Sorry, did you just accuse me of being a racist because I’m not bothered about dictatorships plowing money into English football? Get fucked, you fucking prick
  11. Yep. My other half stopped me playing Champ Man because the stress of completely fictional transfers was driving her crackers, and was clearly send me a bit loopy. Life lesson there for some others
  12. I’m ok with that, tbf. I don’t follow Newcastle because of the players who play - it’s because I’m from Newcastle. I was there watching football in the old second division which was unimaginably poor compared to what you’ll see today. Football is tribal; it isn’t about quality.
  13. You really think that the only people in the UK who’d have a problem with the govt buying a football club with £6bn of public money would be ‘other non Man U football fans’? It would be everyone - including a good chunk of Man Utd fans. It’s two-thirds of what the govt spends on housing, and there is a housing crisis. ‘British govt buys Man Utd - nothing to see here’ is unlikely to be the headline nor the reaction.
  14. Except you can criticise because you’re a human being who cares about what happens to other human beings. Empathy and all that. The ignorance of many is truly fucking frightening to me. ‘KSA is no worse than anywhere else’. There’s an easy test for this - go out onto the streets of London and start a protest against the government. Then do the same in Riyadh. I’d say come back and let me know the results, but the second one would see you executed.
  15. Yeah, that’s where my thoughts are too
  16. Yeah, it’s not ideal. But there’s only a handful who might not be deemed PL quality anymore
  17. The club is snookered by FFP. It’s going to be tricky for a couple of more years - the likelihood is that we’ll struggle at various points. I don’t think our squad is that terrible tbh.
  18. It’ll be interesting to see if Tonali is the one ‘big’ signing and the rest of the budget is used for building a bit more quality in reserve, or if we’ll bring in another big money player. Can’t see it being both unless we sell.
  19. We all know why it’s those colours, and it isn’t an aesthetic choice by Castore. It’ll be a red flag for the usual types in the press, which is all a bit daft really. I can’t say I get arsed by football kits at all - the only issue I have with green is the visibility element for players. Otherwise, it is what it is. Also, it does look like we now have permanent away colours.
  20. Unlikely to boost revenue by much tbh.
  21. The same media who all predicted we’d sign Tonali, too. Almost as if they don’t really know all that much …
