I’d be tempted to pull Trippier out of that side and play TAA as a DM - go full-on W-M formation and have a real go at teams
-
I don’t follow this. What exactly are they proposing? Also, Leazes Terrace isn’t the only issue. There’s St James’ Terrace too
-
SJP is no more the city centre than the arena site. You wouldn’t go anywhere near it on a day out in the city centre if football wasn’t played there.
-
It also means we’re likely stuck with a match day income around half that of Spurs. It wouldn’t exactly be a strong signal of intent.
-
They’re not going to pay that to get around £70m back on the gate. It’ll be comfortably £200m+ for a temporary stadium with the barest of amenities. A 50k stadium isn’t going to just be plonked down - it would require substantial civils works to build it.
-
Needs a pithy one-liner to accompany it, too.
-
It has dated badly, and is visually unappealing
-
I was thinking of that. You’re talking hundreds of millions.
-
Building a temporary 50k stadium would cost almost as much as a new one
-
Let’s be honest, the current SJP is this in a nutshell. It’s a brutalist building.

What if...? Biggest Sliding Doors Moments for NUFC

Some of Wenger’s buys changed English football mind. Anelka for £500k was unreal. So was paying 10% of what we paid for Bramble for Kolo Toure in the same summer (the big money we wasted in that period is piss-boiling tbh) -

There are probably three or four Feyenoord fans like that, which the Mackems have blown out of proportion. The links are absolutely tenuous. Feyenoord are giants of European football. It’s a shite state of affairs that they’re being used for youth development for English clubs -
It’s not exactly difficult to get B&W stripes wrong. I bet they do though. Most of our adidas kits were rank imo.

What if...? Biggest Sliding Doors Moments for NUFC

We win the title if we hang on at Blackburn. We would’ve smashed a mid table Spurs side last day. The atmosphere at SJP when Man Utd scored at Boro was the most surreal I’ve experienced in a stadium; you could feel the waves of nausea - like being on a packed ferry in choppy seas -
Agreed re an element of vanity, but this is still a different beast. This doesn’t mean that I don’t believe that they’re aiming high; but I don’t think it will be by just directly chucking money at it True, and I think the likeliest large direct cash input by PIF would be a new ground. I don’t think they’re simply going to pour money in directly generally - that doesn’t mean they’re not aiming to be number 1; the money is far more likely to be coming from more ‘indirect’ sources
-
Yep, fair enough.
-
Let alone NUFC, who have consistently messaged that they will remain within FFP rules. At some point the message will become clear. I also don’t think that everyone has quite sussed what PIF is - this isn’t a Man City / PSG style takeover being blocked by perfidious forces in UEFA or the PL. There isn’t an unlimited funding bucket, and KSA isn’t a tiny city state - it’s a decent sized country, and this is a sovereign wealth fund. They’re unlikely to be looking to spunk billions on NUFC. It’s an investment, not a vanity project.
-
19 of the 20 PL clubs backing the changes to mirror UEFA’s doesn’t exactly suggest that a rebellion is in the offing to me.
-
It’s tougher on FMV than the old rules.

I can completely understand Feyenoord fans being pissed off with just assisting with another club’s youth development. Feyenoord loaning prospects from us is a sign of just how utterly fucked football economics are. -

I broke a seat at Highbury that night - I jumped for Robert’s third at the same time that a mate bear hugged me. I landed awkwardly and snapped the seat right down the middle -
Not sure giving the team and manager pelters for 90 mins every week is helpful or useful mind.
