  1. It is worth re-reading the Man City thread itself. Some of those on a high horse on this one were perfectly happy to criticise individual players on that thread. Happily I don't think Miggy can read English, so we're probably safe from an angry reply on here from Almiron.
  2. Yep - bunch of daft lads who clearly forgot the audience that twitter brings. It is why discussing football generally on twitter isn't a good idea - it is a completely open forum, and things can go viral. Mind, if the players are following supporter accounts, then they've been daft themselves.
  3. There isn't anyone on this site who hasn't levelled criticism of what they view as poor performances - including the Man City game the other day. People are just being selective in who they deem worthy of criticism (or not).
  4. I've questioned his recent form - but I've never said he's shite or should be targeted for blame. I can't imagine a less interesting 'discussion' than everyone just agreeing about how awesome everything is. I'm not being lumped in with that fucking nonsense from NUFC360.
  5. Unbelievably daft post, but then it is twitter - and I'll never understand why public figures interact with these fans twitter groups anyway. It isn't comparable to discussion on a forum, for me. If any player hops onto a club forum, then it really is on them. There are going to be critical posts on every player at every club in the world - and they'd need to actively seek those posts out. I've never heard of a player who goes without criticism from a section of the support. The players should get off social media generally - and particularly if they are sensitive to that sort of shite.
  6. Eastenders, maybe? Faaaaaaaaaahmleee. Otherwise, a mystery to me - I never found the Boleyn and its environs particularly family friendly
  7. Venison was a mackem, no doubts there - but this can be forgiven (Howey - who was part of that squad - was of course. Our biggest stand is named after a boyhood sunderland fan ...). I understand Venison is meant to prefer B&W these days - he was the OG '92er'
  8. Yep - the last couple of years were literally the same designs with the colours changed. Standardised template kits.
  9. There I am, wishing my bottom had never been born
  10. If Mike Ashley gives me 10m quid I might just stop calling him a fat fucking parasite. Yes, I can be bought.
  11. Unfortunately not - there'd be signing on fees & wages to consider
  12. To me it also signifies that the commentators think X club is located in a nice, middle class town / city / hamlet. Tends to be reserved for Southern clubs outside of London. So Peterborough are more likely to be described this way than Barnsley
  13. yep, that was the nadir - up there with Coventry's brown away kit for me. As I was a teenager, I was also stupid enough to buy that monstrosity, despite thinking it was fucking horrible. That green / orange stripe's stitching was excellent for nipple rash
  14. Dogtanian was a right dirty bastard I seem to remember ... loved sticky fingers
  15. Yep. Don't understand the misty-eyed stuff - they were shite for the vast majority of the time. The away kits were almost all hideous, and some of the home kits weren't far behind. The money the club gets is the main thing, of course.
  16. It never bothered them how shit they’ve been for decades - provided that we were seen as equally shit. This will be soul-crushing to them - their usual ‘it’ll be hilarious when it falls apart’ comfort blanket won’t work either; they know that what is going to happen is inevitable, given the ownership. The PIF aren’t walking away with the club in lower mid table having cocked it up. They’re in it to make the club as successful as possible - that’s how they’ll maximise their investment. And the citizens of Wearside know it too.
  17. If I'm betting on it, I reckon 25-30m per season initially, rising based on performance etc. More than that would be an incredible deal.
  18. True, but the elite clubs sell shirts in the low millions each year. Until NUFC has a global reach, our sales are likely to be (at most) in the low hundreds of thousands. Bayern & Real Madrid, for example, sell just over 3m per year each - which is more than the population of the North East. Man City, by way of another example, sell c.1m per year.
  19. Just on the pen rule - the keeper has to have at least one foot on the line. Earps definitely didn’t tbh.
  20. Yeah, that was shocking. I genuinely felt sorry for the Spanish at that moment. You’ll never see a more blatant handball - yet it took roughly five mins from the incident to the pen being taken. That’s a lot of thinking time …
  21. This summer would have been the one to cash in - he won’t be worth what he’s worth atm again - but I don’t think it’s the end of the world that he wasn’t replaced. We’ve got one of Europe’s most effective attacking RBs - Almiron’s engine and total commitment does a lot of covering for Trippier. Don’t get me wrong - a lot of what made him effective early last season has been ‘sussed’. He’s making the same runs, but Trippier and Bruno aren’t making the same passes, because the defences are now obviously anticipating that ‘give and move’ that Almiron does when cutting in. But the lad gives everything, and I think plays at his maximum every game.
  22. Yeah, I didn’t think Spain were dominant in any way. England lacked composure as much as anything. Spain definitely worthy winners, but that was not a one sided final.
  23. Yeah, 100%. As frustrating as the final was, it is still a hell of an achievement to get there.
  24. Looked so much more convincing in the Euros. Too many first teamers out injured I think.
