  1. He made some canny saves - Pope had one simple save to make and made a bollocks of it
  2. Is there a google translate for Mackem? Read that three times and still no idea what is being said
  3. These are the weakest side we’ll play this season and I include Bradford in that.
  4. NUFC has multiple gears to step back through and these are catastrophically shite. We could lose this 6-5 (not going to happen) and we’d still stuff them in the home leg.
  5. Playing our full strength side while 5-0 up - they’ve taken their foot completely off the pedal. Which makes sense - and also why you make a load of subs at Ht.
  6. I take back what I said before the match. These would struggle in the old third division, not the old second division.
  7. Almost exactly the shot from the title shot from the first series of Blackadder:
  8. The adidas Telstar Durlast remains the greatest of all for me. Love watching the ball spinning crosses and shots from the ‘70 and ‘74 WCs with these bad boys. A true design classic, beautiful in its simplicity
  9. Totally agree, if this was an FA Cup game there would always be the nervous thought at the back of the head - owt can happen. Second bite of the cherry should mean going through - no excuses. I don’t either 👍 I’m going for a 3-1 win here. Eddie’s mags to maintain their impeccable away record* *over the last week or so
  10. No intent of bad faith - the reason there’s a correlation is because wages are linked to the players you can sign. There’s not a single Qarabag player who a single person on here would be happy to see NUFC run off and buy tomorrow. Being knocked out by these would not be a shoulder-shrug moment.
  11. There weren’t many grumbles on Tyneside either re the prospect of a move away from SJP. The sentimental element seems to be a very, very recent thing.
  12. Shame for the lad, but that has to be it re NUFC. He ended up as a much better squad player thanks to Howe than he ever looked likely to be under Bruce.
  13. We’re reliably informed in another thread and by Edwards and Hope that wage bills are the most accurate predictor of team performance - so because Newcastle has the 8th highest wage bill in the PL (or had it in the last set of accounts - I suspect we’ve overtaken Villa) then we overachieve if we finish above that. Which seems reasonable to me. Qarabag’s entire wage bill is the same as Kieran Trippier’s base salary. I fully expect any XI we put out to be able to beat these comfortably over two legs.
