I was thinking about the Emegha transfer to Chelsea the other day. If we do go for him I guess it depends how desperate Chelsea are to sell. Unfortunately with the multi club model they have they could easily just send him back to Strasbourg for another season to try and boost his value after having a stop start season, rather than sell him to us and not make any money from what they paid. He sounded like he had a lot of potential after the season he had last year.

Arsenal make absolutely no sense as a destination as they already have Calafiori, Lewis-Skelly and are going to make Hincapie's loan permanent in the summer.

He's not even that good, take your rose-tinted Lens out.
-
I'm sure we'd be able to get a tune out of him

Just read this article on bbc sport which talks about Paul Dummett. Sounds like he's had a pretty hard time since leaving the club! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/ckgje33891do

Don't really understand that tbh. Surely when we've been in negotiations with Wolves they would have given a clear indication whether they were open to a fee being agreed or not.

In the data driven transfer market we now live in the club have clearly judged that JSL is good enough for us by more metrics that just his goal output. The majority of the strikers you named were quite limited when you look at their overall game and is why no top teams ever picked them up.

The problem with signing Wissa and Jackson is we'd lose both to the AFCON next year and be in the exact same situation we are now. I can see Isak staying tbh.

Great post and completely agree. I think whether we get 1 or 2 in now completely depends on whether Isak stays. I don't see us bringing in another central midfielder, I think it was Ramsey or El Khannouss rather than both. Wissa is almost certainly going to sign, and I imagine we'll be laying the groundwork for our Isak 'replacement' in case he does leave.

I'm surprised you were able to write that with your head up Kenneth bloody Taylor's arse.

I know people say about us just raising the floor this window, but I actually think we are also inadvertently raising the ceiling too (or at least seeing the ceiling more consistently). The guys coming in are now providing genuine competition to the 'regular' first teamers, meaning they will have to step up their game to be at their best at all times, or they can now be realistically dropped for a good replacement.

I honestly couldn't care less how others perceive us with regards to getting rejected. If you don't try you don't get. And a few players we thought were out of reach might surprise us and be interested if we go for it. Cannot approach transfers with a fear of getting rejected. I think we might have already made contact with Guehi reps and they've told us he's either going to wind his contract down or he's not interested, which is why we've gone in for Thiaw.

I think he's 'only' got about 26m followers

Retegui has just gone to Saudi and there's no chance Lautaro Martinez comes here! Remaining options are surely down to: Ollie Watkins Goncalo Ramos Nicolas Jackson Yoane Wissa Muniz
