You would expect it to come with age, it is rare to see a player that is a unit at such a young age and if the club wants to specifically develop that part of his game we can, like we have done with Anderson.
-
I get what you are saying and for me Trafford has all of the bits to his game to be a top keeper. However, that will only come together with playing. Saying that Liverpool’s back up keeper looks quality and he has played less football than Trafford, despite being 25.

No idea what you are on about.
-
So what is the issue then?

Hopefully the away keeper kit is a better colour, Real Madrid have it in light blue and it looks so much better, as does Germany’s in black.

Here is an article from the Athletic about him just over a year ago, they speak highly of his distribution and reflexes. He is a youngster though, but if people think there are 21 year old goalkeepers that are world class then they might need a reality check. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/4407763/2023/04/15/james-trafford-man-city-bolton/

More chance of getting £20 million for Ashworth than £40 million for Minteh, unless there are add ons on the add ons.
-
I presume they would still be under contract until the 30th June even if they are being released.
-
If you are a club with ambition you are going to want to get as close as possible to the limit without going over, if we have gone over then I wouldn’t expect it to be by a huge amount and will hopefully be able to shift someone like Fraser to cover it.
-
If we had signed Wharton he would have probably been back up to an injured Longstaff over the second half of the season anyway to be fair.

So my point is that just because a young player doesn’t fulfil his potential at Dortmund doesn’t mean he won’t anywhere else, you don’t disagree with that but still want to argue the point? Brilliant. I don’t know why Isak didn’t fulfil his potential at Dortmund but he didn’t, that isn’t knocking Isak so no need to jump to his defence on that, sometimes it doesn’t work out and we have benefitted from that so it worked for us. As for Adeyemi, he looks to me like someone with the speed and trickery that you would look for in a wide player but he hasn’t put it all together yet, similar to Gordon before he came here actually. His decision making is also quite poor and there doesn’t seem to be any development in his game around that, so what you do with a player like that is invest time in working with them individually on routines and scenarios to almost take the decision away from them and it becoming instinct.

He left there a few months before his 20th birthday but the point still stands, just because a player doesn’t fulfil their potential at Dortmund it doesn’t mean that they never will.
-
I think the reasons we consider him is for the reasons above, that we feel that there is untapped potential there and if Howe can get him to be more consistent then we have a bargain. Worth remembering that Isak didn’t make the grade at Dortmund either, so I don’t think that would put the club off.

Does this also refer to player sales between clubs with the same owner? I remember City were planning on signing a midfielder on the cheap this summer and there was talk of it not being of fair market value, so I wondered if that is what is driving this.

I don’t get the point that you are making with Pickford, as he was a better keeper than Ramsdale and Pope were before they moved to the clubs they are at now.
-
Burnley would be daft not to play him next season if he is still there, as they might as well write off the money they invested in him. No reason for him not to be one of the best keepers in the Championship and a steady league for him to develop, similar to Meslier who Allardyce dropped at the end of Leeds relegation season but has been able to develop in one of the better teams in the Championship this year. If you are a team knowing you are going to be fighting relegation, there is no way you should be putting a youngster in goal expecting them to be the hero, the only thing that is going to happen is their confidence is going to be destroyed, as they make the inevitable mistakes that young keepers do. Forest had the right idea, sign an experienced pro like Keylor Navas for a situation like that.
-
Trafford has all of the bits to his game that you would want from a young keeper, his issue if he comes here is that he isn’t going to get the experience which is where goalkeepers develop beyond potential to being at the top of their game. With FFP we have other priorities at the moment unless it is a first choice keeper.
-
He can play on the right but he is one footed with his right from what I’ve seen of him, so not suited to cut in from that side.
-
Chelsea are open to selling Omari Hutchinson, another quality youngster from their academy that I would have here. He might need time to adjust like Hall but he has a high ceiling.
-
I’m warming to Mbeumo as someone that can cover both the forward and wide right role.
-
Great run but did everything wrong after that.
-
It is difficult with MGW as so much of his fee was made up in add ons, for ease say it was £30 million. He signed a 5 year contract in 2022 so anything above £18 million for him they could book as profit for FFP, is my understanding.
-
That does look better.

I have and can only see him saying it is the one that has been kicking around. The one online around then is what was used to mock up the Isak one, but the shoulders and collar are not correct.
