Chris Woods career here can be summed up by this moment.
-
Wood was abysmal. The only good thing about him was the fee we got for him when he left that most on here thought was a miracle at the time.
-
Miley was that good he was dropped for an injured Longstaff at the first opportunity.
-
Minteh has had a far better season than Miley, whilst the league is clearly weaker than the Premier League it was the club that decided to send him there. People talk like we are buying someone straight out of the Dutch league, when we actively scouted him and paid a large sum of money for him from the Danish league before sending him to a Champions League team in Holland to develop.
-
That depends what you define as a dud, for example Wood, Targett, Tonali, and Ashby would not be described as good signings at this point in time for one reason or another. There is no real comparison with Gordon and Calvert Lewin, one was a youngster that had potential but was struggling to put it all together, where as Calvert Lewin was good 3 years ago, before having a serious injury and never looking the same player again.
-
Anyone doubting a transfer is beaten with the Anthony Gordon stick.
-
The equivalent of setting up a deal where Miley goes to Man City for £40 million and we sign Kalvin Phillips for £40 million. Bonkers.
-
I think it’s more to do with the FFP issues and the need to sell before the end of the month, if we don’t sell then we are going to have to plead our case for a lenient sentence and it doesn’t look good if we sign players prior to the FFP cut off date.
-
It looked like the Scottish player was hit worse by the keeper but the Hungary lad could have landed on his neck.
-
He must be on good wages at Everton, he signed his last contract when he was bang in form under Ancelotti and Everton were throwing money around.
-
Why? His movement in the box is as good as anyone in the squad.
-
Everton fans on their forum were saying that he doesn’t seem to be able to strike a ball cleanly, which is strange to hear about a professional footballer.
-
Wilson is a few levels above DCL as a goalscorer, when we have needed him and brought him off the bench you always fancied him to get a goal and whilst his time here is coming to an end due to age and injury, we should be looking to bring in better as we progress as a club. Howe might get DCL playing well again but even if he does he isn’t a natural goal threat like Wilson is. I don’t see this transfer as a step forward, generous to say it is standing still ability wise.
-
Apparently his release clause is £45 million.
-
He’s worth about half of what Everton reportedly want.
-
How have you come to a figure of below £20 million?
-
I think there was a sound logic in buying a core of Premier League ready players with a sprinkle of foreign talent to take us to a certain point, arguably we are in a position now where we should be taking more risks buying abroad to boost the squad.
-
His biggest issue won’t be buying British players, it will be on our injuries next season. Last season should be viewed as a freak season injury wise. However, another season like that and fingers will be pointed at his methods.

Trafford Kelly Kilman RF Calvert-Lewin Depending on who we lose, but I didn’t think we would bring more than five in for the first team.
-
A few articles about Kilman if anyone is interested. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11699/12508827/max-kilman-is-a-revelation-at-wolves-from-earning-the-trust-of-his-team-mates-to-bossing-cristiano-ronaldo https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2024/apr/19/maximilian-kilman-interview-wolves-england-dream He was linked with Spurs last season but apparently Ange vetoed it due to his lack of pace. https://onefootball.com/en/news/postecoglou-vetoed-tottenham-opportunity-to-land-wolves-ace-37997013
-
Waiting for us to be linked with Harry Wilson from Fulham for the right wing.
-
Kilman is a good player and can play RCB, the downside is him and Botman would be one of the slowest CB pairings in the league.
-
I am not wound up in the slightest, simply pointing out that your patter is on par with those discussing football on Twitter, and that your attempts to stifle people giving their opinions with the threat of reminding everyone at a later date if they are wrong. I won’t be saying any more on it and will be putting you on ignore.
-
Yes, they are fools. Which is why they have got in to so much trouble with FFP that they have had multiple points deductions. Besides that, I don’t think you realise how bad your patter is. You act as a zealot following every decision the club makes in blind faith cheering it on, stating that you will remind everyone of this if it turns out well etc. Honestly, it is Twitter level stuff. Eddie Howe might improve DCL as he has a track record of improving players. However, think how much better we would be if we signed better footballers, rather than trying to rejuvenate the careers of players that have been poor for a number of years.
-
Or maybe you could stop acting like a zealot and expecting everyone to be happy with every decision the club makes?
