Completely agree. Last year he was fantastic. This year he’s been so reliable, had some incredible games (PSG at home comes to mind) and he’s given me some amazing memories. Even at the game today singing he’s one of our own. His biggest critics are the armchair fans. The same ones that wanted Howe gone and the same people that think we can sell Jamal Lewis for £5M. Absolutely love having locals in the team. I know the arm chair fans over look that but it’s so important.
-
You want a smaller squad in Europe next year than we did this season? Haha. Unbelievable Did you not learn anything from this season? We’re not selling him this summer. Wake up.
-
No chance we’re selling him. Daftys. If you genuinely think he’s a bad player or doesn’t add much to the squad you don’t have a clue about football. Local lad, good squad player. Very reliable. Love him.

If the club moved somewhere else, changed their name and the colours they played in, I would stop watching football.
-
Agree with your points, no point moving for the atmosphere.
-
The NFL isn’t coming to Newcastle. There are 10 European capital cities it would go to first. Stop being naive.
-
Completely agree. Emirates is also horrific for atmosphere and so is Tottenhams new stadium (granted it’s the honeymoon period where everyone that hasn’t been yet says it’s amazing. That will change). For an evening kick off I don’t think there’s a better atmosphere in the league than SJP.
-
I honestly wasn’t impressed with the Spurs stadium. The expansion has caused it to become a nightmare to get to and from now with the additional fans and no improvement in infrastructure. If you like different foods then great but it wouldn’t work at a city centre location. People eat before the match at SJP, not at half time. Atmosphere was very poor this season even when they spanked us 4-1.
-
It’s just a rectangle of grass. it’s just the clubs name. It’s just two colours. May as well just support a successful team and be done with it.
-
Not sure why the club are spending £100’s of thousands on the feasibility report. They could have just asked you for free
-
Don’t know how many different ways this needs explaining- There will be more areas of SJP turning corporate over the next few years. It is inevitable. They’ve already turned two large sections in the first two years. You haven’t seen the impact of that on the reported figures yet.
-
Well yes it makes a lot more financial sense to get 8,000 extra seats for £200M than getting 13,000 extra seats for £1bn.
-
As I expected really. A new stadium was never really an option. A new stadium is only exempt from FFP if you can show the following: ”Clubs need to ensure that building a new stadium is financially sustainable and feasible. This involves conducting thorough financial analyses to determine the costs, potential revenue streams, and long-term viability of the project.” Unfortunately going from a 52,000 seater to a 65,000 seater costing £1bn isn’t viable. The marginal payback will be over 100 years. Really don’t know what most on here we’re expecting? Expanding the Gallowgate was obvious when they purchased the land behind it and decided to put a temporary fan zone behind it. The owners intention hasn’t changed this has been the plan since they came in. Really not sure why everyone is surprised.
-
Where did the arena link even come from? When the land was up for sale the club chose not to buy it. The Ruebens decided not to buy it (despite owning a decent chunk of the city centre). People genuinely hoping we’re going to move there need to calm a little. It’s the hope that kills you.
-
Yeah SJP away concourse is a decent size. We were talking about Tottenhams away concourse and how small that one is.
-
The away concourse? Probably one of the smallest I’ve been to this season? Why is that a weird take? Have you been to it?
-
Did you read my post or were you just thinking of yourself? I literally said I’m fine for the stadium to move as long as it stays in the centre. There is nowhere to build a stadium in the centre. I don’t want the stadium moving out the centre (would be fine for me as I travel an hour to get to the centre for a match day). just for the general atmosphere and for others interests. The worst posters are the ones that tangle what you’ve said to benefit their own argument. Weird how people that have no interest in going have the loudest voice on where the stadium should be.
-
If you have zero interest in going why should your opinion matter on where the stadium should be? You don’t need to think about the logistics or anything. If the club wanted to progress they’d build an out of town stadium. There is nowhere else. Yes I want to stop that. What is there to argue about?
-
Yes. Out of interest are you not a season ticket holder? Fine with stadium moving if it stays in city centre. The plot next to the arena is a nine starter though for several reasons. So just trying to save a few people some time.
-
Well the away concourse is tiny. That’s the only one I’ve seen.
-
Or you’re just completely missing the point?
-
Yeah that land is a complete none starter. Not sure why so many are getting their hopes up over it. Realistically (and people won’t like hearing this) there are two options: 1) Staying at SJP. 2) Having an out of town stadium with a bigger capacity.
-
But a lot of these loans also have criteria to name the player in match day squads when fit. This may be the case here?
-
I didn’t think Tottenhams new stadium was that great when I went for the game earlier this season. Barely any space inside, found it difficult to actually get anywhere the space was that small. It definitely didn’t leave me wanting to go back to it. Not much character either. When all of the old English grounds are knocked down I think I will miss them.
-
Would be amazing if that could actually happen.
