Anderson has been fab this pre season. Anyone else worried how bad Targett looks? Doesn’t surprise me Eddie didn’t trust him much last season.

In each of those 4 games he looked out of his depth. I know he’s a very likeable guy but with less preparation time for each game next season. And us playing more quality opposition I will really worry if Trippier is out for a while.

I think our fans were just pleasantly surprised he wasn’t as bad as he was pre Howe’s arrival. Unfortunately I never grasped the idea from some fans that say he was ‘great’ while Trippier was out. He was a stop gap and we managed to get through that period. He was still shocking at times and didn’t offer much going forward. I do worry if Trippier gets injured. It would be great if we could get him off the books. Freeing up £3m of wage space to get a good up and coming right back.

Agree. It is likely Gordon will be here for a long time even if just a squad player. He is young and has so much potential. He’s quick and looks good on the ball. He just needs some more coaching and he has the chance to become great. I think some of our fans need to give him a chance and I really don’t get the negativity towards him. It’s bunkers. We really don’t have many first team homegrown players under the age of 30 other than Longstaff and Willock so the signing is good planning for the future.

With a 25 man squad next season I think it will be as below. Fortunately Anderson doesn’t count again towards a squad number.
