3 rounds ago there were discussions about whether Tottenham could challenge for the league. Now they are not even top 4 anymore. But some people in here did point out that they were just a couple of injuries away from disaster.
-
Chilwell was on the bench prior to his injury. I think they were playing Colwill instead at left back. Even though Jackson is not looking great, I'm not sure if Broja is any better. I thought Nkunku were going to play as a striker? Don't know much about him though.
-
Was really tempted to cap Gordon, but put him as vice cap and went with Son instead who now has a hat trick of disallowed goals.
-
Not sure about Mudryk, I think he is just not a PL player. Maybe Howe would've done wonders with him, though. I gotta say, so far Jackson hasn't really impressed either, and I'm not sure if that's a culture thing. Look at all the chances he is wasting, it reminds me of Werner. Cucurella and Sterling for around £105m total? Again, not sure if they would look worth all that with ut. Enzo was never worth £100m for me, good player, but I'd say more like £70m. People were just hyping him as something incredible based on a few games in the world cup.
-
Wesley Fofana for 80 mill euros aswell.. I know he's injured this season, but he didn't really look like a £70m player last season.. They also spent 50 mill euros on Aubameyang and Koulibaly, 33 and 31 year old players past their prime.. Koulibaly was sold for 15 mill less without actually having done anything, same as Joao Felix with his loan fee (11 mill euros) and Aubameyang who went on a free transfer. I wonder what they were paid in wages, probably way too much. Still can't believe how much money they got for Mount and Havertz though.
-
Yeah, so this is how they spend their money. It's not hard to grasp why they're struggling despite spending that amount, when you look at how much they spent on some of these mediocre players. There is a lot of young players and talents being bought though, who knows how good they will be in the future.
-
Then it doesn't tell the full story, because I'm sure that goal would've stood? We literally did nothing to their goalkeeper there I think, but I didn't watch it closely.
-
He was probably still raging about that miss.
-
I was also a bit positive simply because the few games that I watched Everton 2 years back, he was usually their best player at the age of 21. I heard a lot about his bad run of form before we signed him, which made me a bit sceptical aswell, possibly partly due to the Chris Wood signing and how his goalscoring form continued to be pretty dry with us. But the entire Everton team was just not working at all when Gordon wasn't performing. Also, I never expected his mindset and willingness to improve to be this good. Quite the opposite, I thought his attitude seemed pretty bad.
-
Southgate would've played Maguire over him, so yeah, very possible.
-
Can't really tell whos better between him and Botman, that's how good he is. Schär is definetly more complete, and I actually think I rate him even more. Outside of pace he's literally so good at everything. I wonder what would've happened to his career if it wasn't for the takeover, it's a scary thought. Still puzzled as to why Switzerland doesn't play him? Sometimes they even play with 3 CBs, and he's still on the bench.
-
I wasn't here back then, but I'm guessing he wasn't "elite" enough.
-
And the narrative is solely based on how much money they have spent.. They spent £400m on Enzo, Sterling, Caicedo, Mudryk and Cucurella. It's not about how much money you spend, it's about how you spend them. Manchester United is another good example of that. Chelseas squad is just majorly overhyped, mixed with money spent bias, so everyone just expect them to find some crazy form eventually.
-
He's his personal trainer at the gym.
-
To be fair he has had better days. Chelsea has made like 10-15 signings worse than him since the takeover, so there's that.
-
This is what allways happens when someone spend insane amount of money on a player solely based on their WC performances. It's just a purple patch for christs sake.. I was very sceptical when they bought him, but everyone was just hyping him so much (just like Mudryk). I guess these players are what people mean when they say that we need "elite players".
-
It's funny that we let most of our attacking play go through our right back, which should be predictable, but we actually make it work.
-
I almost capped him, he's my vice captain.. A shame I didn't go for it.
-
Schär is a better finisher with his weaker foot than our entire midfield.
-
You guys still think Chelsea are in form? It's funny how Chelsea are allways "in form" after 1 good game.
-
I told you all Joelinton should be starting up front.
-
I gotta admit the Joelinton as striker thing didn't age very well for me, but I still stand by saying that Joelinton is not the same midfielder that he was last season yet.. Has really just had a couple of great games this season. Also, as someone pointed out, his best games for us has been as LW swapping with Willock.
-
Feels like one of those day where every margin goes against us tbh. Sterling screamer, Joelinton incredible miss, Gordon injury, Trippier hitting the bar.
-
Gordon injured I guess, that's why he looks tired.
