It's destined to happen some seasons, nomatter how good the model is, as long as you have the wage budget that they have. They took 33 points from their last 32 games, taking 6 points from 5 games vs Luton, Burnley and Sheffield. That's near relegation form in most seasons, and very far off what they did last season. Europe was partly to blame, but if they go back into Europe, the same can happen. They sold Caicedo and MacAllsiter, and who did they replace them with? Their squad is worse than the current top 9 teams currently, and who are they going to sell for big money this summer? I don't think they will get relegated next season, but I don't see them fighting for Europe either. I'd say 12th-15th next season.

With all the money and technology they have, or could potensially have had at their disposal, and they don't have conclusive evidence as to whether a ball has crossed the line for a goalkick right before the goal? Why not have more cameras in the right angles, and/or some goalline technology for that aswell? Surely they can afford it?

That's because you remember all the mistakes and forget about it everytime they overturn something obvious from incorrect to correct. I also don't walk around remembering all the correct things that VAR do, that isn't normal. What is normal is to talk about the mistakes, because every mistake that VAR does gets a bunch of attention. Because of this it feels like there isn't an improvement on the rate of mistakes, but it is. And it's significant. For example, anytime VAR makes a mistake, it's very rarely the correct decision to begin with anyways (contrary to what you're saying). It's usually because they don't think it's a clear and obvious error. I'm sure you can refer to some instances where they might have overturned a correct decision, but there are not many examples of that. Typically we happen to remember some of the few that actually happened, like the PSG game. We don't remember the all the instances where they overturn something incorrect, which is way more frequent. Because that is an expectation, as it should be.

Most people had Chelsea in the top 6 before the season. Some even put them in the top 4. So, he hasn't exceeded expectations. But they have been pretty good since january and are going in the right direction, so it would be really weird indeed.

I'd put him in the same league as Declan Rice, meaning he could be an important player to any team. Declan Rice was deemed not good enough offensively but people who didn't follow West Ham closely. With better players around him he is doing great on that part. Most West Ham fans knew about this part of his game all along, he just couldn't show it as often with those teammates and the tactics. I don't think Bruno has been a standout player for Brazil, but he has been picked to play several times. That team is pretty damn stacked. He's not a Rodri, but he's still one of the better midfielders in the league. The consistency and ability to avoid fatigue and/or injuries is also something that the biggest clubs appreciates.

Feels like the current squad struggles when the pressure is on. Last season we were flying until the last 5 games. Then we took 6 points from the last 5 when thew pressure was on, dropping points to Leeds and almost throwing away the game at home to Leicester towards the end of the game after total domination without scoring up until then. Luckily we already had enough points to get there. Lost the final to Man Utd. Got unlucky in CL, but lost the final game to Milan. After finding some form in march/april, we now lost the form when the pressure was on for the last 3 games, while Chelsea won 2 away games in a row, something that they had struggled with this season.

I wonder how much time the people in the VAR room spend evaluating how big the error is, and whether the error is "clear and obvious" (which is highly subjective anyways).. Seems like the main question in most situations to be honest.

Look at Real Madrid for example. It came as a surprise when they let go of players like Varane and Casemiro. Everyone gets it now why they did.

Pointed our the poor away form already in october on here, but was told by several that it didn't have any basis, because we just happened to have done poorly in the same away fixtures the season before. But, last season we won nearly every remaining away fixture, so it was just a bad comparison that had nothing to do with this season and our away form. In the end it was the away form that screwed us (injuries aside), which was what me and some others feared at the beginning.

Remember all the offside goals? Saying that there are not less big errors is just wrong. We obviously hold them to a higher standard since they have the replays. Which we should. But there ARE less big mistakes. We don't remember that well how it used to be, we have gotten used to VAR.
