Goalkeeper and defense were brilliant. Midfield needs serious work. Partially technical setup, partially fitness, and partially plain quality. Upfront they had some chances, a little more clinical and they could have robbed them. Palace looked a different level most of the game. Their defense did not look particularly strong. We don't get to catch many nufc women's games here in the US so was fun for the kids to watch.

The answer is the simple and obvious one, we would have had to dump someone that the fans may not appreciate getting sold. They are not going to say that without gain so they keep their mouth shut. For whatever reason their calculation was that it would be worth it for him (I don't agree). And the lack of movement is that they are not seeing the same value in any transfer available. It's really not that hard. The club has a specific value profile that they feel would be worth shuffling assets for. Absent that, they will not move. Personally I'm not really bothered by the lack of transfers. Wish there were some fresh additions and the summer window was frustrating, but I didn't expect anything in January. I don't think enough was made of this mistake by Howe. Against a strong pressing team, there was no need to force Botman into a bad spot. The other piece I noticed was that Bruno was coming deeper again to get the ball. It's almost like he was playing a 6 again. Not sure why, if it was tactical instruction or Bruno was off. I think their midfield man marking forced Bruno to do that and it caused us issues. Yes the referee also helped them by allowing them to get after Bruno.

I really do not like big Joe in this game. Not only would I like him to get some rest but he can get easily wound up, and it's not worth it against this team. Looking at the team seems like he didn't have much choice, which is worrying that we don't have a backup with the same profile.
