Trips isn't the player he used to be but I reckon we're way tighter defensively with him and his leadership skills.

We should have a pretty tough run after Ipswich (which itself won't be easy as it's away). Villa, man u (away) spurs (away) and then either spurs, Liverpool, man u, or arsenal in the semis. I just really hope that this brutal run doesn't kill our newly found confidence if we have a few poor results in a row.

Am I being overly negative by saying that without Bruno we probably have no chance against any of the remaining sides?
-
We genuinely aren't playing that badly, were just struggling to finish and Lloyd Kelly made a dumb mistake.
-
Yeah to be fair I could see us losing to forest. We struggled against them in the cup and only won on pens, and it's a difficult place to play away.
-
Not too late to start turning things around. In theory the only really difficult games we have until new years would be Villa and Liverpool. But that said there are no easy games in the premier League. Hoping we should do better in the second half of the season with botman back and hopefully a signing.

We'd still lose to be fair.

Been far better since those subs but then again it seemed like we were doing well at the start of the match as well before it went down hill. -

Who scored the fourth goal? Can't seem to find out anywhere online at the moment.
-
Yeah even with the news today I wasn't even excited to be honest, I can't see them adopting a luxury tax. That said I'm somewhat more optimistic on them maybe dropping the related sponsorship rules which could be just as good for us.

Considering we seem to be over the worst of our injuries and have gotten the top four out of the way (villa, arsenal, l pool, and city) I could see us going on a good run. I think 6th is certainly possible, but the issue is I think it comes down to us getting a result against man u at old Trafford and I just don't see us beating them a fourth time in a row particularlly on their home turf. That being said does it actually matter? Assuming we get five champions league places next year and Liverpool will be one of those, that means 6th, 7th and maybe even 8th goes to Europa? In that scenario not much difference finishing 6th or 7th.
-
I think 6th is definitely doable, gap between us and 5th is high though. We should aim for as high as we can, but realistically I can't see us getting 5th.

Who wants to bet the ref gives Milan a pen in the last minute.

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)

Any chance of barnes, botman, and Wilson being back for the Milan game? -
I had a check at the table standings. If we can get a draw to psg then regardless of what happens at dortmund Vs Milan we're going through assuming that Dortmund are able to get at least a single point to psg at home (so as long they don't lose their home game), and we also beat Milan at home. The only part of that I think is unlikely is us getting a draw away to a psg team that's out for blood with half of our squad injured. So if we do somehow managed to get a draw it will be massive.

With the way things are looking at the moment, does anyone else feel like maybe we are moving away from a top 6 format into more of a top 10 format? With the traditional top 6 plus us, villa, Brighton, and west ham competing for the top spots more evenly going foward?

Good that we can finally get some time to rest the players, hopefully Wilson and joelinton can recover during the international break. But that said we have like 5 games in 15 days, so that's a game on average every 3 days. Cant see us maintaining a steady performance with our current squad depth, and we've not cemented ourselves well enough in the table.
