apart from the final my favourite game this season was our second leg 2-0 win over Arsenal just the way we setup and played, aggressively going man for man with Botman in the team alongside Schar and Burn which surprised everyone as well as doing it on a big occasion, evening game where atmosphere seemed immense winning the cup makes looking back at the semi final even more special and meaningful now also so glad Botman got to play an important role by putting in a full 90 in both legs and this same Arsenal team could win the CL, making it even more impressive

I love watching this new PSG team, they're on another level to every team in the PL, probably only this Barca team have a chance of stopping them winning the CL also mostly forgiven them for last season's robbery in Paris as they did such a great job of softening up Liverpool for us in the final not a fan of them destroying competition in France etc but I do also really like how the atmosphere in Parc de Princes always seems electric

How Ekitike became Eintracht's latest star forward - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c75ddz24lvro remember we were so close to signing him but ended up with Isak so no complaints there, however seems like he has the potential to hit similar heights
-
they have it in them to do a smash and grab on us they're overdue a big result and despite their league position they still have some quality players so shouldn't be taken lightly that said we should be more up for it than them and pretty confident
-
with a game in hand! and it would be mathematically impossible for them to overtake us actually think they'll grind out a result, they're getting harder to beat and our home form still a bit off this season (clearly I'm still not over 95/96)
-
nufc.com saying concussion protocols will also rule him out of the MU game next week - is that correct?
-
Man City only put 2 past them at home so I wouldn't be expecting a big win, certainly not if they park the bus I'll be happy with any win, plenty of bigger upsets have happened so not taking anything for granted
-
I'd like to see Ange come out with another if all things were fair, equal and balanced rant spurs are a joke
-
Ourselves, Forest and Villa displacing Chelsea, Spurs and MU in the top 6 this season would be very satisfying Chelsea have been very poor since December, would be nice if Spurs could get a result for a change quite incredible how Spurs are 16 points behind us considering their financial superiority and notions of being a 'big 6' club (at least MU win trophies)
-
I said to myself before the final that if we won the cup I don't mind what happens the rest of the season, even if we were to lose every game so not gonna stress about this game, just gonna enjoy it, confident we'll get a result but if not will just rewatch the final
-
I think we'll come unstuck against MU at home based on nothing really, but would be feckin sweet to do the double over them
-
such a natural leader and captain I recall quite a few here questioning the decision to give him the armband wonder if that's still the case? think he'll also get a statue some day and go down as one of the best signings in the club's history
-
but for this thread I'd be completely unaware of any speculation surrounding his future it's all tabloidy made up bollocks anyway surprised anyone bothers watching ssn better off tuning out and just savouring his performances and comments about loving life at Newcastle
-
still processing this we may well have better teams and win bigger trophies in the coming years, fingers crossed but whatever happens I think this team will go down as all-time favourites bringing home this trophy against all the odds with such a likable group of players and manager will take some beating
-
have heard a few of people comment on how he 'out-tacticed' Slot which I think is accurate nice to see him getting the that kind of credit - has done similar against Ange, Arteta and Emery to name a few Liverpool didn't know what hit them with those deep corners towards Burn, almost led to a Bruno goal before Burn scored, love how he saved that for this game the way we isolated Salah and attacked them down their right was also brilliant and playing over their press to win second balls worked a treat totally dominated them - like nobody saw this coming so absolutely brilliant from Howe!
-
as someone not from Newcastle, if they can't do a bus parade why not just do a boat parade down the River Tyne, like Bilbao did last season when they won the Spanish Cup? no road closures needed and looks class!
-
now that I know what Newcastle success tastes like there's the feeling of wanting more I would almost be happier with Europa League as we'd have a great chance of going all the way (as much as I want CL football and appreciate that's what the club needs for revenues) whatever happens now nobody can argue this season hasn't been a success
-
what an amazing final and feeling and to still be taking it all in days later a few random thoughts firstly what a difference a week makes in football had we lost against Wham (as many expected we might) that would have left us TENTH in the table, and even less likely to beat Liverpool in the final if we'd lost both games people would be saying our season is over, Howe has to go etc now here we are a week later closing in on top 4/5 with a trophy and European qualification in the bag - and players and managers have all cemented their places as CLUB LEGENDS! on the game I thought it was a tactical masterclass from Howe, brilliantly executed by the players Liverpool badly missed TAA feeding Salah and we managed so well without Gordon, Hall and Botman showed exactly why we need to keep hold of players like Barnes and Trippier, so important having quality back up players when needed I thought Joelinton was our best player but everyone else played their part - we didn't quite have our shooting boots on as could have been more, 2-1 really flattered them stoppage time was relatively comfortable apart from their goal - maybe that Forest game gave us the wake-up call we needed for seeing a game out so delighted with the League Cup win and having to do it the hard way by beating all the top teams also far more satisfying than just CL qualification fwiw
-
mad season, Brentford's home and away form has completely flipped they had the best home record in the league when they beat us 4-2, couldn't stop winning and scoring for fun, but their away form was the complete opposite since beating us 4-2, they've failed to win any of their 7 home league games, taking just 2 points from possible 21 now they've just won their last 5 away league games! and of course they go to SJP next...
-
could be a huge win that, both for morale and confidence ahead of the final as well as league position it actually felt like a Ten Hag era MU win - poor performance in many aspects and slices of luck going our way for a change (thought the decisions to allow our goal and not give them a pen were correct but you do see them given) worked well for Ten Hag delivering cups if not much else
-
they player who should've been sent off scores for Liverpool, what a surprise the amount of decisions they get is incredible
-
except he becomes prime Ronaldo against us
-
if Nunez had been sent off he'd be out of the cup final everything goes Liverpool's way
