  1. Probably doing him a disservice, but does Ramsey move the needle for us anymore than Willock?
  2. But his performance against West Ham may cost us UCL and he'll then have cost us more...
  3. Probably be a very good deal for them. Roll him out in the 9 position, dropping off to supply Salah and a new output LW. Then sign a striker in 2026 if market is more open for one then.
  4. Just a small thing, it was £27m Arsenal got for him (maybe more if clauses are met). £30m feels the upper end for these type of deals, not £40m that.
  5. That had no right to be saved. Fuck me.
  6. Hope for a proper drubbing so I can see Arteta cry.
  7. Speaking of Brighton, wonder where James Milner goes in summer? Would’ve become all time appearances in prem this season hadn’t he got injured. Would Leeds want him on a one year deal?
  8. My point was more signing 25yr olds for £25m isn’t really with a view of trading profits, it’s a shift in policy to signing players differently to what they’ve done before to kick on. Signing likes of Baleba are with a view of profits, likes of O’Riley are not. So them moving to signing Watkins type of signings are already being done by them (I.e. ready made and played many games in Europe / European domestic leagues) It’s like us signing Barnes isn’t with an eye for profit, it’s for the output in the immediate. Agree they will be caught up, because every club in their bracket will have an off season or two and drop off. Wolves and Leicester of recent years are two examples.
  9. Rutter was nearing £40m. They’ve shifted from £10m signings to £25m where the chances of turning profit on those players when signing at 24/25 is heavily reduced unless they are proper standout. Like O’Riley, Kadiogou, Wiffer are nearly £80m and not players you expect them to make profits on.
  10. He effectively had one season as a first team regular at Sporting then moved to Wolves. His spell at Wolves then when he’s been rolled out at Man City is more than Sporting and easily enough for someone to judge him. If anything it’s more one good season in Portugal that we’ve seen LOADS of times from players moving from there.
  11. Brighton spent big last season to move away from feeder club and singing more £30m players. Don’t think they will ever sign £60m because that’s still money that only the truly big clubs can afford to spend.
  12. Nunes was an average player at Wolves Was a strange signing for CM at the time because he wasn’t elite in any way shape or form.
  13. Who’s spending £60m on Watkins? The chance was there in Jan when Arsenal made a move. I’d be very surprised if Arsenal revisted that deal again, especially at that price point. Boat feels like it sailed. They’ll likely be bailed out by Saudis for Bailey and potentially Martinez. Rodgers may entice Man City though.
  14. He had a future, just we jumped on a opportune market where Chelsea were (and still are) in selling top prospects to fund whatever model they’re delivering. Carvallho moved last summer for £22.5m rising another £5m. Liverpool are in dreamland if they feel it can be another £10m+ minimum on top of that.
  15. It’s more Liverpool actively want rid, so clubs can drive down the price as it’s been shown he won’t be used by Slot.
  16. I really like Elliot, but £40m is daft. Can see it being more £25m rising to £30m.
  17. Proper sweaty goal after he messed up one on one.
  18. I mean, we need technical players in final third, it’s something we badly lack. £25m makes him more attractive and there’s certainly a player there to work with which would be appealing for Howe.
  19. League it clicked, UCL was very fortunate and typical Madrid weird jinx they have on it. Their squad needs investment, especially in defence where it’s aging and many injuries. Probably sell on of their attackers (Guler or Rodrygo) to fund the spend.
  20. For some positions, you can get away with youth/average if you’ve got exceptional players in other positions. How many top sides have we seen over the years roll out average gunk at CB (even up top) but have a legit top CM and still win, because that’s the area that dominates games. We have a big step down in midfield when one is injured / off form and it’s been shown. If we’re to take a step it does feel that is a priority position on par with RCB and RW. Can see us going big there and rolling with GKs we got and a free striker / youth to balance things out.
  21. As for being an issue in Europe, Liverpool have won the thing and got to more finals with him as their RB. He’s not an issue. People will go “Yea, but Vini destroyed him”, so what? One game, it can happen if a top attacking player is on it. Salah on it in final, they maybe win 2-1 and no-one remembers Vini game.
  22. And look how their season has gone. Embarrassed in UCL, and being slapped by Barcelona domestically.
  23. Dream weekend incoming is Villa defeat, we win (by 3+) and Forest draw. Would effectively put us in UCL bar some freak results.
