I dont think its the fee we've offered, its the structure of the deal. Parish doesn't want champions league clauses to activate the add-ons, he wants the money guaranteed. Thats fair enough in my book.

My belief is Guehi signing has a far bigger positive impact to the mentality of the group than Gomez or Chalobah. Its not just the players direct impact, its his impact on the group. Guehi has a reputation for being a leader in the dressing room and a player others look up to. I've heard and seen nothing to believe Gomez or Chalobah have that. They might, but right now their respective reputations don't suggest so.

No to Gomez for me. Gomez £40m is worse value than Guehi at £70m

Raphina would be awesome but its a non starter as he wants to stay at Barca. Plus his wages would be an issue for us right now. Otherwise I agree.
-
Spot on this. The player actually wanting to move to us is a huge part too.
-
His pace at the back will be welcome

This is partially what I'm alluding to in my post. There could be a "make or break" element to the goals of this season being realised. Therefore by not achieving a top 4 position any financial shortfall is already accounted for as gentlemans agreements with Bruno, Isak could see them leave. We just don't know for certain.

This comes across very patronising tbh. I've mentioned PSR in my post and also that none of us truly know what our commercial forecasts are for the future. No need to go into a deep discussion on PSR when neither you or myself fully understand whats going on with our accounts and what our growth figures, sponsorship bonuses, upcoming deals look like. It will be speculative. I'm suggesting we trust those in charge to do that.

Yes there has been a lot of "lets throw the towel in" attitude across members implying he's not worth what we're offering. I'm suggesting Howe and Mitchell believe he's worth overpaying for as he raises the level of the group. Howe has stated recently there's "a small pool of players that can improve us". Guehi has obviously been identified as one. Regards PSR concerns, we've no idea what the board's commercial strategy is for the next 6, 12 or 60 months are except to grow it upward. In which case we'll have a budget that Mitchell is working with. They believe Guehi is worth £65m to this club and squad, we have to assume they've planned this ahead against future revenue. Lets have faith in the ownership.

Genuinely think he'll surprise a few on here much like Gordon has. Eddie can see this lad has the ability to achieve elite level and he's a popular lad in the dressing room. Calm, mature and commands respect. We're spending big money for a big reason.
-
Good. He's the one we want. No compromises. Love the sheer determination.
-
Really hoping we get this done. Guehi seems a top lad and a natural leader.
-
Thats minging sorry mate
-
They're pulling it out of their arse, that's where
-
It's not the players fault his club are playing hardball. It appears as though he wants the move and hopefully we can reach an agreement.
-
We're £5m away from making this happen. We've come this far now
-
We'll reach a deal, I'm sure of it.
-
I still think this happens
-
We're lucky to have execs like Silverstone on our board. These are amongst the best in the business, I honestly despair at some of the negativity I read
-
There's no mention we've walked away from this deal yet. Just a lot of toy throwing from the fanbase. Lets wait and see what happens
-
Ah that's a shame. Really wanted this one to go through.

Loved this advert more than the home one.

Here is the top part. Newcastle's new chief operating officer Brad Miller has revealed the club are in the final stages of reaching a decision on the stadium project Newcastle would prefer to expand St James’ Park rather than relocate. Newcastle United are preparing to write a “once-in-a-generation” cheque to resolve the St James’ Park expansion dilemma – with a definitive decision on next steps now “really, truly” imminent. In a clear sign that the club are in the final stages of a decision on the huge stadium project, Newcastle’s new chief operating officer Brad Miller has offered reassurances over the ownership’s “overwhelming” commitment to invest either in St James’ Park or a new build elsewhere in the city. Miller, who was appointed in June, says the board is now “working through the last couple of questions we’ve got” after the completion of a wide-ranging, six-figure feasibility study into possible options which has included “war gaming” the issues around both a sizeable expansion of St James’ Park and also how a new-build stadium would work in practice. Goes on a bit after this.

I have no issue with that. There's few truly elite clubs

I think its more nuanced than bad planning. There are so many factors at play, finances, player availability, player desire, a new sporting director, boardroom/ownership changes and having to comply with PSR. Lots of transfers are interlinked and only happen once another transfer has completed and with this in mind its been a slow market. Plenty of time, we've not sold any major players and are obviously busy negotiating incomings. Lets be positive.
