I'm quietly confident about beating Barca tbh. Flick seems to persist with a suicidal high line which, if attacked effectively, can be made to look very Angeball. Rayo Vallecano did just that last week. They absolute battered that high line and deserved to win but were robbed by a dodgy penalty call. Beat Barca in the first game and there's no way we finish in the bottom 12

Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)
LaurentRobert replied to joeyt's topic in Football
Anderson is great and I do hope he makes a comeback to Newcastle later in his career. However, let's be honest, if he did stay at nufc, he would've remained a bench player. No way he'd replace Bruno, Tonali or Joelinton in that midfield -
Maybe that's one of the reasons why he was so desperate to leave us a year earlier than scheduled. Possibly doesn't trust his own body to play a full season without being hampered by injuries again. A case of cashing in on that fat contract while the iron is still hot. Wishful thinking of course, but I do hope his injury problems catch up with him.

Sweden struggling, Elanga off. No sign of Isak despite multiple subs made. Maybe he's miles off it, or Liverpool determine how many minutes he can play, or maybe he's refusing to play? Rat

Ballsak might have to end his strike tonight

0% success rate so far this season. Last 2 seasons I managed 12 games in total so maybe my luck is running out.

Will Osula: Goal vs Man United nominated for PL Goal of the Season
LaurentRobert replied to a topic in Football
Would have loved to have seen him in the Eredivisie. He desperately needs to start playing regular football for his development. I think it's fairly unlikely he'll play this season beyond cup games and a few cameos. -

Dutch market closes a day later than the English window -
At the very least a box of matches. Now that the dust has settled, there's no denying the contribution Isak has made in the last 3 years, such a shame he chose to destroy his legacy. It's unbelievable really, a player who is our 2 highest PL scorer is now arguably one our most hated players. Feels totally unnecessary how unsavoury he made his exit. We move on

It's possible if we didn't get rid we'd get the Isak at the end of last season that moped around the pitch not looking arsed at all. I'm not entirely sure Ekitike, Salah and Isak will work well together. Way too much ego in that front 3, all of whom are desperate to be the main man. Hope he does his ACL in Slovenia this Friday

There's a lot of behind the scenes info which we're not privy to. I trust Eddie's judgement wholeheartedly. Let's face it, had he stayed we would have delayed his inevitable exit next summer anyways. Would it have been worth the energy and media circus for 12 months of football? Especially when you suspect he was already mentally checked out backend of last season, so probably would have half arsed this season for us, whilst still being a toxic cunt and disrupting the dressing room. We've got a massive fee for him which should help us going forward, and I think Eddie and the team will be massively relieved that this whole saga has ended and our season can now properly begin. Excited to see what Woltemade and Wissa can do for the team.

So after effectively going on strike with 3 years left on his deal, this smug cunt triples his wages now, has cost us at least 4 points already, and fucked whatever succession plan we ever had for him so our "profit" after replacing him will be negligible. Modern football never ceases to amaze me. Worried what kind of precedent this sets going forward. I can't imagine Tonali going to the same toxic lengths as Isak next summer but we thought the exact same about Isak a mere 2 months ago. We simply have to get another striker in tomorrow otherwise the season is a write off. No way we could compete for European spots especially considering the level of investment from our rivals. I've already mentally prepared for midtable mediocrity this season. I'm still hoping we can conjure up a magical run in the Champions League though

When can we close this thread? I want to erase this cunt from my memory. Going to avoid all the hullabaloo the next few weeks, all the Isak promo videos that Liverpool will somehow sneak into my algorithm, all the football podcasts, all the lazy youtube football content creators, all of it will be disgusting. On a positive note, it's far from guaranteed that he'll be a success. Injuries are surely a concern when you pay that sum of money. Real Madrid fans were also giddy when they bought Hazard as well.

Comes across well in interviews. No ego

If Liverpool don't make a second bid, he doesn't really have a leg to stand on. Even if we were to entertain the bullshit narrative of "broken promises" the club has to date only received one official bid of £110m which Isak surely knows we'd never accept. I would start with sacking my agent on September 2nd if I was him.
