  1. Just occurred to me, if we could pick him up for 15-25, Angel Gomes as a squad player/6 in games we expect possession. He keeps things ticking over very well. Was reminded seeing Tuchel pick Hendersona nd Rice, and knowing Rice will play 6 which he cannot play, at least not in a slow tempo careful system and its been proven time and again.

His goal has been a small part of his contribution today. Our midfield and general attacking play hadnt looked so fluid all season, even if it is West Ham.

Nobody said anything about him being as good as Kane. Bayern were willing to put them in the same squad, I can put them in a sentence. They’ve got a few of the same weaknesses and both have ideas of playing as ten. Kane didnt look like being more than a squad player in a side ranked 15th-25th in the football pyramid tol he was 23 or 24. It’s whether Nick has the heart and perseverance to be an effective player for us in that role. I think he likely has the iq and skill.

Why haven’t we tried moulding him into a Harry Kane type. Kane has very little pace but presses, drops deep but still has striker instincts and runs behind. Should be spending all our time focusing him on that, and teaching him the joy of clattering defenders.
  5. He doesn’t deserve a send off. If hed maintained his commitment from early seasons I’d say yes. He carried the team with his commitment. Sine Liverpool talked to him hes been shockingly inconsistent, surly snd liable to get sent off at crucial times. Never for me. 1 great season followed by wishing gone doesn’t do it.
  6. Truly would have been miles better off going from the few insightful ‘scouting analysts’ on YouTube and football manager. If we won’t hire the staff to be able to watch every league with young talent and the best current academies, we unironically should make use of those. And then let Nickson say yay or nay
  7. Wouldn’t care if we lost, I stopped caring a good few losses ago. Then we had an incentive to win, Europe. We’ve played like league 2 strugglers and we’ll stay up. I don’t care if we get a fluke win or even play well for the last 2 games. Means little compared to a cartel club going down.
  8. Recruitment and wasting money is a big part of what got Bournemouth relegated. He had control then. At first here, there were multiple voices, last summer was the first where it was Eddie with the major say. And those are Eddie type signings historically. So I don’t know that Andy Howe is a good scout. I know we don’t have enough top class scouts or first team coaches for that matter. Clearly new ideas are needed.
  9. Definitely a tenable idea, only risk is the dressing room and Bruno’s happiness here. And of course what Joe offers, but Eddie has gotten 0 technical improvement out of him, especially not in the final third. His decision making at times hanging onto the ball cost us loads of goals last year as well. But I think Anderson would have been the guy who’d see that and show for him.
  10. This is why I can’t take our recruitment seriously. He was available 2 seasons ago for around 20-25 with only Monaco as competition Im fairly sure. Sam as countless others we’ve missed out. Small pool of players, the most nonsensical comment ive heard. Every team in this league bar the bottom 2 have players who’d improve us.
  11. Trips-Thiaw-Alex (Irish 20ish lad?)-Miley Ramsey-Tonali Murph Wolt. Barnes Osula bench: Bruno,Burn, Park, Neave Wolt as a striker who drops not a midfielder except in defence maybe, enough kids to give West Ham a chance while seeing if a new system/players gives some stimulus. Spurs down. Take Kulusevski, Spence, and maybe Bentancur and Archie while we’re there.
  12. Jose’s career has proven one thing. With a team full of hungry pros willing to do whatever he says, he can do very well. Personally I think our squad is far more suited to him than Spurs. Real would be a circus. They’re all spoilt kids. Really destroyed a winning culture by signing dickheads. Still would never want Jose, the football is too one way.
  13. I’d imagine the war will underline the need for economic diversification and a greater presence and level of influence on the world stage, if not immediately when things settle.
  14. True enough, endless money helps
  15. Man City have gotten around this, presumably with a combination of walking away immediately if games are played, and they definitely have good relationships with clubs that regularly produce talent. Possibly their multiclub model helps with that, or possibly they're talking to players and players are demanding only City. 50mil for Dias, Marmoush, 35 for Cherki, 55.6 for Doku. These are all players that Manure and us would have been told 60-70mil. But City seem to be able to get reasonable results. I spose they can promise first refusal on the top prospects from U-21 they're willing to sell.
  16. Is this Dejans son? I’d buy him for that alone

Just can’t understand why we haven’t considered Wolt up top with one or both wingers and a midfielder aiming to link up closely with him. Thats his strength. When he drops deep, that’s why, because he can set someone away, and on the 18 he can turn and find space. Surely in that system AG can do his pressing and he can cut off pass lanes. This is my concern with Eddie, can he evolve past physical intensity and add technical football. Liverpool had to pull back on intensity under Klopp and evolve.
  18. I thought this lad was going to be an absolute top tier centre back, our best ever. The injuries seem to have affected his confidence and judgement, which he couldn’t afford with his lack of pace. Massive shame. Hopefully it turns around
  19. Hoping this shows PIF there’s 3 areas. Commercial, first team and the clubs infrastructure. We don’t have CL level execs, recruitment, scale of scouting. Allowing Howe the level of control he's seemingly had was bad judgement after what we saw at Bournemouth. Don’t see how he’d stay or how it would work. It was obvious last season we needed some help with coaching, the technical levels and the ideas in the final third were very poor for a team in the CL places. Yet it got even worse and Howe doesn’t seem to pen able to fix it.
  20. I don’t know that making a change at the end of the season would be knee jerk…if I had any faith in the executives overseeing operations. This problem of needing all day to pick a back pass, and losing our heads the minute we’re pressed effectively isn’t just this season, we almost missed CL last year because of it. It needed addressing. We got in Wolt, and continued playing the same style. At no point did we try having narrow wingers, or putting Ramsey up near him. When we have possession it’s always tedious slow paced move up the field with no threat, til we turn it over because we’re out of ideas and ability snd the other team is prepared and cuts through us like butter.

He's a player who requires a change in our tactics. If we want to evolve beyond only creating chances by winning the ball in the opponents half we need some technically gifted players, which he is. But he needs his wingers and a midfielder playing closer to him and the team playing at a higher tempo. This passing slowly around the back line then humping it down the wing is just crap football in general, but to do it after spending 70 million on a striker and then calling him crap because he isn't that player is stupid. Almost the whole has been shite, as has Eddie for the most part.
  22. Scums manager used HT to address tactical issues and tweak the gameplan. We continue on as before with (maybe) inconsequential changes and maybe a 'lets get em' from Tindall. Look at our record in the 15 mins before and after half time. Worst in the league about. Teams figure us out, adapt and then grow into the game. We do the opposite. We only have the press, we have never developed beyond 'intensity is our identity.' When other teams are intense against us our team just starts botting the ball any old place its shocking.

The season is over. Play him as a number 9 with Gordon/Elanga/Barnes whoever narrow and playing off him. Let Hall and Trips/Tino provide width. The midfield offers nothing going forward anyway, only gets passed to the back 4, out to full backs and a ball down the line. No wonder we're so easy to defend against when every team knows we will not go through the middle. Just take a risk, he's a 70mil striker with a great touch and head for the game, give it a chance now there's nothing worthwhile to play for. Even if there was something to play for we aren't getting it playing like this. Crap football reliant on pressing goalkicks. Thats 70-% of our goals the last 2 years. Trying to think of a game we created chances through our own play throughout a match, can't.
  24. Its seemed obvious for more than a season now that intensity is our identity is not something a team can or should do all the time. We needed to get better technically, instead we bought overpriced physical players. We haven't brought in undervalued prospects with a view to challenging and technically improving the midfield for when one or more of the big 3 leave. No prospects to take a position on the wing when the right in particular is weak. How much of this is down to Ashworth being brought in to streamline U-21s,U-18s, scouting, recruitment, coaching recruitment, i don't know. I only know Howe has not been able to fix problems that have been present for a long time. We always lose the heads when pressed and cannot just make space. Our players are static, we create no confusion through movement. The link-up in midfield is dire, partly because the players just don't have the technique to play short passes at high speed while running. The lads can really only control the ball when standing still. Does anyone believe Howe is looking at this as a priority next year? I can't see it, was hoping for evolution the last couple of years, we've gone backwards.
  25. Some amount of players on our team who cannot control a football or maintain composure for a couple of seconds, league 2 stuff
