I’d go right now, if you want Isak offer 180 + 40 adorns. Caceido was 120 after a good season a few years ago, Coutinho 142 a decade ago. That’s the rate for a world superstar striker. If not he stays, he can play in the reserves don’t care. No more going in for expensive players. Only signings large amounts of Brighton, Brentford, Villa, RB, type signings. I’ll grudgingly accept the next few seasons of outgoings and 8-10th finished if the future looks bright. If they don’t change course and PIF don’t have a rep here making us more than an asset on a sheet, then I’ll watch it numbly expecting nothing til things change, bit like the Ashley years but without the threat of relegation and at least we have talented players to sell.

I'd be happy with him in the reserves for the next 3 years tbh, after the debacle of this window I don't see us competing for the CL spots on any consistent basis, maybe in 5-6 years when we've figured out we need to sign potential that top clubs wont beat us to. Besides which Gordon will put himself in the shop window this year, he can be a 100mil player especially without a competent striker, lad could hit 15 goals easy.

Why did we give Villa a free run at Guessand when there was always a big chance Sesko would pick Manure. Not that it matters now, whole club outside the committed players and Howe/Tindall, coaching staff has shown itself to be utterly incomptetent at the moment of truth. We had years to prepare for this summer. Corporate football is absolutely depressing.
-
While we were being made fools of here Villa signed the Guessand lad for 30 mil. Shambolic. Considering the versatilty, age and price tag, how was he not a better shout than a 29 year old Wissa who's going to cost us as much if not more.

Suprised the PIF came into this, are being absolutely shown up right now by Emirati and American rivals. Hopefully they see what this is now and build the infrastructure, the buildings, the board, the football staff, the recruitment. Aside from the team on the pitch who have overachieved in the face of massive injuries and small squads, small budgets, everything else has been dismal since Staveley left. You could feel the change in the months after. Her not being in the ground, the difference in the players, the body language, the wording at conferences. They need to sort it out. Because this is the year we'd be expected to kick on. We've been there once, now we've won a cup and back in. Had time to see where we stood and adapt. Now we're going back and we've added Elanga and Tonali to our squad. Every week I see 'Pool, Manure, City sign 16 year old with 30 goals for Swindon U'21's' or something. We need the investment in Local football. There are players in Newcastle, who love the city. We need to buy the top youth before they cost heavily. Why can't this board do one thing at once, then maybe we can have wheels of people that do multiple things at once. Shambles.

Take that to mean we told him what wages we were offering, his agent is happy with it, so, provided Leipzig accept our offer, and Manure don't come in and offer a better 'project', he is willing to come. Basically he's open to it, but wants to know if theres a better offer
-
Why not move onto a top prospect goalie, who can hopefully be what we want, instead of spending money on a lad we know isn’t what we want long term

How in Christs name do the league and fa get away with pretending to be concerned about the health of football bring in spending rules, but no rules about owning 60 first team players, or signing 15 first readers a year, joke of a league.
-
Trafford has been a target for ages, leaving it til halfway through pre-season is bad enough. If it turns out we think the situation is such that now we need to turn to Ramsdale, really don't see what anyone involved is thinking
-
Jesus Christ if this is true, why did we not make a real bid for Trafford, if it doesn't get done we go for Kelleher, this is a shocking turn of events, ridiculous
-
With that, assuming Isak stays, we may compete to get in Champions league. We'd have to massively overachieve again though, and hope that Joelinton, Botman, Willock are available most of the season. The rich clubs have massively improved. Even Manure are going to be much better it seems. Spurs will be much better under Frank. Arsenal, Liverpool, City, Chelsea, if they play to 80% of the talent in their squads will comfortably secure top 4.
-
Hopefully, but the center back Forest signed Jair Cunha, 20 y/o, 10 mil, looks an absolute unit, aggressive, smart, great timing, and looks to have that win at all costs mentality. 10 million. Has all the physical tools to make it here. If he does he's worth 50-60, and then we'll be interested.

If a good squad is the level of our competitors in the cartel, we are 7-8 players away from being close. They have 22 good premier league players. Aside from our 11, which doesn't match the cartel clubs, our bench is shocking. Osula, Dubravka, Krafth, Miley, Barnes, Murphy, Botman and Willock (always injured). Some decent backup, but its not very good. Barnes/Gordon are the only top class bench options. No breakthrough youth yet, aside from Miley who we need to become a superstar this year. Mitchell may have been a total wanker how he came in here and start yapping, but he was right about our recruitment not being fit for purpose CURRENTLY. Don't know if he had any solutions
-
Thats why I blame management, we needed to develop the best scouting and recruitment in world football immediately. Its been obvious the last 2 years with PSR, it seemed we were going to but Ashworth and Mitchell did nothing in that regard. Have we been scouting South America, Club World Cup, European u-21 leagues, where all the superstars develop? How many scouts do we even have. Buying them after they develop is not a level we can compete at.

I'd be looking at the Coutinho transfer to Barca. You're buying a complete, proven player, a unique player, and a top 5-10, potential Ballon D'or winner, just entering his prime. Not just the goals and stats, the entertainment factor and the transformational factor. Buying a top, flair striker who scores and assists clinically adds a huge premium, in most cases. We should be looking at 150 guaranteed money, add ons based on app's, goals, title wins and personal awards, bringing the likely fee to 170ish, and potential if he gets player of the year and wins a european cup to around 200mil
-
If we wanted Ektike we had to outbid Liverpool, and negotiate the price within 24 hours. We'd have known of other clubs enquiries, we know we can't compete on wages if they go high. So having a bid rejected in that instance is stupid, particularly when its the second time this window, and it happened with Szoboslai before.
-
Makes you wonder why we spend all our time and effort negotiating for players on the shortlists of clubs able to pay twice as much.
-
Coutinho went for what, 170ish? I was thinking 150, considering Rice, Grealish, but given inflation and proven world class status in the premiership, has to be 160 base plus 30-40 add ons. I don't know that spite is that counter productive given I dont trust us to do anything but buy 3 lads not quite good enough to be considered for squads at cartel clubs.
