Winning Europa gets you into CL, and is also a legitimate trophy. And if I was Spurs I’d be happy, so long as they sacked Ange and brought in a pragmatic manager, which they did. Spurs fans should be over the moon, saw my Dad go through the post Poch period. They’re gone from trending down to trending up.

I’m surprised he wasn’t sacked after the semi final against Inter. That was the absolute worst, most unbelievably bad, incomprehensible game management I’ve ever seen. Even worse considering over 180 minutes any time Inter got half an attack going they either scored or should have. If we can defend and counter and keep going no matter the score we can at least draw.

Just gunna throw this out there. Every pundit saying we can’t compete due to PSR. This lad was 6’6 with the same raw talent 1 or 2 years ago. When we had apparently 60mil to spend on Guehi. How many scouts do we have on the books? Wilson was a known hamstring bomb for years, how were we not looking at these kind of lads. Won’t go into the amount of defenders our rivals have signed for 10-15mil that have been better than Thiaw over last season and whether Thiaw can be as good at twice the price is highly debatable. Twice as good? Never.

On the subject…what struck me about Anderson is, here, when he came in at first he tried to fit in to the midfield. As time went on he started playing more as we see now at Forest. Forest had a plan for him clearly. This is my concern with Miley. I don’t know if he has the mentality to think, I can improve this midfield with my strengths, rather than ‘I can be in this midfield and function’. I’d have liked more midfielders so we could loan him out. Think he needs the pressure of going to a lesser team and being the man, or, not being able to. Then we reassess, maybe his level is cover.

I don’t know about the lads but me, yea a lot. Mostly because I managed 300 seasons before I was 14, I have have high standards for Newcastle. Back in my day it was a quadruple every season, every year I signed a Beardsley or a Shearer for a few mil. Those were the days. Hard for Eddie and the lads to live up to those times. Also everyone in my team was from Newcastle. Even Messi it turns out was a Geordie, in the real world. I’m just jaded with the matrix I spose. Gunna throw on some Andrew Tate, lift my spirits.

I'll give it a 4. We didn't make any value signings that pad out the squad and add quality, thinking Jair Cunha at CB for Forest, 10mil. I'd hoped by now the youngsters around the first team would have a higher floor and ceiling than Osula, but we've got very little in terms of youngsters pushing for the 11. Think we needed the numbers to give Miley a 6 month loan at least so we can know if he's capable of making a midfield his own. Think we needed 2 more midfielders, an 10/8 and a 6/8. Think we overspent on lads who will improve us, but not to the level where we won't need to improve in a year or 2. Wissa for 55 is crazy. Overspent on one dickhead, to sell our dickhead to our enemies at a 20 mil (minimum, should have been 150 floor plus add ons, including sell on when he goes to Madrid/PSG/Barca). To make the next step the business administration side had to perform as well as the team, they came nowhere close. If the Isak contract thing is true, that's mental. When players start to show they will soon be performing way above their wages relative to other players, you up their wages. If he wanted a release and he wouldn't accept 150-170, say fine, we tried. Maybe that is what happened. Either way, Saudis need to put millions into North East youth football, I want more Geordies in the team. I'd have rather kept Isak, he wont play, let him do charitable work, send him to the hospices to play keepy ups. Dickhead. Really want the worst for him, I know its football, but the little bastard. Pepe as our last signing of the window PLEASE.

I hate the narrative that somehow got set of 150 being enough, 150 is the absolute minimum that should allow discussion. Out of prime age strikers it’s him, Haaland, Mbappe. Teams can buy a Gyok, Sesko etc, but Isak is proven, and an all rounder, can play multiple systems, can play with another striker. 150 seems a compromise with him being wantaway ingrate bellend
-
Even if we got another striker, I wouldn’t let Isak go unless it was for 150+add ins, 180 altogether, thats Bin Dipper tax. 150 to certain prem clubs if it suits us. But really I’d only want to let him go if we could get a midfielder and striker out of it. Happy to let him rot. Let Woltemade keep him to 5 minute cameos for a few years.

Early days maybe, and we havent gotten many wrong. But, look at our squad, its very thin and the 11 lacks cartel quality in some areas. The squad we could have ( not all but pick and choose) Pope (don't know goalies too well, don't understand why we dallied on Trafford) Defence Ashby Zabyaarmi (24m) Milenkovic (15mil) Kerkez (18mil) Tino Hjuisen (10m?) Jair Cunha (10mil!) Ruggeri (17mil * Went to Atletico) Trips Schar/Thiaw Burn/Botman Hall Midfield Fer Lopez (25mil) Baleba (30mil) --->Lamine Camara (15mil)-Raw, but would easily fit into our midfield, especially with Champions league, eventual successor to Joelinton. Leicester Arab young lad (25ish) Joelinton, Bruno, Tonali, Miley, Crocked Willock Strikers: Guessand (25mil) Osula Isak Ideas- Tom Rothe 10-15 mil? - German Left back, 20, Midfield, composed, great left foot, good ball carrying, dribbling, hard worker. Eddie could possibly train him to play inside right. If not, still useful where he is. 10-15mil? Martin Baturina 25mil?- Playmaker, scores goals, carries ball well, very good at interplay with teammates, something we badly lack at times, as well as a threat through the middle. Lamine Camara - 30-35mil - probably wouldn't get him for that, but seems like after a couple of years he's taken over from Joelinton and is the level of Caceido, Baleba, provides a threat in attack as well. We were willing to spend 60 on Guehi last summer. Could have signed Milenkovic, Hjuisen and Camara for less, and I doubt i went over in a year with wages. Forest signed Cunha for 10 mil. He looks like he's got everything to excel here. Most Importantly. Center backs and central midfielders are the positions where a smart team can often buy a lad for 10-20 million and sell for 50-70(center backs) 50-120 (midfielders), and its not as hard as doing it with a winger or forward. We don't catch the cartel by spending heavily on good if not great players because they played premier league. Selling Isak for 150m (He's worth 170 plus add ons, has to be) isn't going to be out 'Coutinho signing' if Eddie is unwilling to take the risks. People say we dont want to be Brighton. We will be Brighton if we don't over perform relative to our spending power. We are getting Brighton'd against our will right now. If we sign more undervalued players and pack our squad out, as we should have done the last few years; it didnt take much money to make us better, we may have convinced a top striker to join. At the least we'd have a stronger squad, some relationships with clubs and a better idea of undervalued strikers in Europe. If we can't buy a potentially top forward now, find those goals at the best price, whether through Wissa, Guessand and strengthening other areas, a midfield capable of scoring more, wings scoring more etc.

Hopefully not because the minute Willock sprints he'll pull a calf muscle. Or blow a hamstring. If a defender makes contact his knee will need reconstruction. Finally, his achilles could snap again, but given the elasticity is gone nobody would hear the snap and he'd hafta crawl off to the sideline. After his injury record at Arsenal, time to sell him was when he got a few niggles and his value was high, sadly, we couldn't really do it as our squad was thin. There was a summer, first under Eddie, was probably the time, although I'm sure we thought he'd come on as a player if we could avoid injuries for a time. Shame for the lad, wouldnt wish it on anyone, but he will never play weeks of football in a row, his body is simply unable.
-
My God hes injured again? Need to be signing the Leicester lad or that Croatian Inter and us were looking at. Worst case it leaves us able to sell a midfielder to Saudi or if cartel comes for one next year. need to be planning CL is out this year, prepare the squad to be deep enough, and with enough high ceiling players coming through to challenge the season after.

There's better than Ramsey for similar money in different leagues. If we were going to target Villa, its Rogers we need. Spending a huge amount on Ramsey is mental. Jordan Ibe kind of signing. At this stage I'm hoping we spend none of whatever money we have until we get a competent upstairs group. Which won't happen anytime soon, but whats another 5 years in the grand scheme of things.

Don’t know why weren’t in for him earlier, we needed a versatile player who could attack through the middle, we were shocking some matches last season against poor clubs.

25 mil max and not a first choice striker to rely on, the downgrade to Isak is monumental, and unlike Sesko, Ekitike you don’t sense there’s something unseen to his game, it’s all there and it’s alright, hes strong, can run, not a great finisher, not a quick thinker, not much agility, if we’re lucky he possibly is somewhat as effective as Lukaku, but his finishing would need to improve a lot
-
I think a highlights package can’t tell you if a lad is a good bet, but it can tell yiu if he’s a bad bet…Samu does not look like he’d suit a top prem club, doesn’t look technically good enough or quick in thought, but that’s my take on a 5 min reel, weakest out the those I’ve seen linked in any position
-
I’m sure there was some talk of future business whether them having priority if a failed manure player is up for sale, or possibly Sesko doesn’t work out…this is how Man City buy Haaland and Marmoush for 50mil with no competition, their execs butter up the execs of other clubs, scratch each others backs
-
Youd wonder why the push to oust Staveley, especially given nobody was willing to take on even part of her role.
-
He clearly lost the battle, his specialty was the players we should have been trying for. Eddie Howe had too much of a bias towards prem proven or proven by whether big clubs have been interested. His coaching isn’t the problem, it was his signings that got Bournemouth relegated. I know we pretend he has no weaknesses but to chase Guehi last year when our competition (B’Mouth, Forest) signed better/as good for a 5th the cost.
