  1. couldn’t agree more - the lack of respect for what he has achieved and the amount of work he has put in is shocking. I really don’t believe any other manager around could have achieved more with the resources available. If he resigns because he does not feel appreciated or is sacked because of all the negativity it will be a disaster for the club and put the fan base in a very bad light.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Too good people, but they were operating at a time when we had a healthy PSR balance due to Ashley’s stinginess and also when we could sell players a dream of being one of the top clubs in Europe.

    England

I feel sorry for Jacob Ramsey who has proved himself as an adaptable midfielder and is in better form than some of those included. Begin to wonder how many matches Tuchel is making his decision on, perhaps if Ramsey had not been incorrectly sent off against Man U he would have had more chance to prove himself.

    England

we made four at least a couple of times in 1996/97 22/08 - New England manager Glenn Hoddle calls up Batty, Shearer, Ferdinand and Howey for the World Cup qualifying match against Moldova. 26/09 - Lee, Batty, Ferdinand and Shearer are all called-up for England for the match against Poland, but Steve Howey misses out this time.

  6. I recommend you take a look at the first video just to see Wyn Davies’ challenge on Sunderland goalkeeper Jim Montgomery.
  7. Having to defend against Barcelona for long periods with what appears to be a very, very card-happy referee, what could possibly go wrong…maybe if he is fair it will play to our advantage as they fouled more than us in the first leg.
  8. I remember an agent revealing last summer that whatever the length of contract a player signs the agent generally gets his money over a three year period. Therefore agents often start “rocking the boat” when three years is up to get a transfer and another payout.
  9. Everybody’s least favourite manager, Captain Black, being surprisingly complimentary of us, even if a bit back-handed. It's playing the best football that you possibly can and the game demands to give you the best possibility to win the game and that's it. I realised what's happening in the Premier League the other day with a really important factor. I was watching the Champions League game between Newcastle and Barcelona. For me, Barcelona are the most exciting team in Europe in many moments the way they play, and they face one of the Premier League teams, Newcastle, who are exceptional in their intensity and the high pressure, everything man-to-man, a huge amount of tools, a really good team in transition and we saw a completely different game I've never seen Barcelona play and that's a huge credit to Newcastle, but this is the league that we are playing in. Have you seen the Barcelona 1,000 passes that does it every week in Spain? No. It was a very different kind of game. Can it be beautiful? Yes. But Newcastle made that game and so well done as well and a huge credit in the way they did it.

  11. Fantastic performance but we are so unprofessional at the end of games. We had multiple opportunities to take the ball into the corner and waste time but wenkept trying to attack.
  12. I remember in the “Asprilla” game what seemed like the whole crowd kept chanting the same chant from the start of the game until we scored. Definitely helped unnerve the Barcelona players. Think it was “Kenny Dalglish’s Black and White army”
  13. I’m sure some of the more recent figures will be reasonably accurate, although I would have expected Beardsley to be higher up the list.
  14. Not sure what statistical analysis has been performed here, perhaps they used the new AI app totalbollx. It is yet another table claiming to be an “all-time” list which is obviously rubbish. Perhaps they mean Premier League but, even if that is the case, where are they getting all the info from? The most perplexing thing though is the appearance of Jock Rutherford, who was at the club from 1902-1913.

whilst I absolutely agree that we need to find a way of cutting out all the cynical fouls and quite like the idea of a sin bin we then have the problem of all the cheating and play acting so athe wrong person might be punished. I think a retrospective fine system after each game which is based on a percentage of a clubs income may be a more effective deterrent. I still think the initial foul would have not earned a booking in most games particularly as it was in the first-half when many referees don’t punish hardly any fouls. It was noticeable that the ref let much worse fouls go without bookings in the second half.
  16. I just think he charges and slides around a bit too much often ending up on the deck and sometimes in the goal. I am not suggesting he should stand still but there are occasions when you would expect him to hold his position more. He has better reflexes and agility than Pope but I think Pope is better at positioning himself and keeps himself “as big as possible” to better effect. But fair play to him, he made some fantastic saves last night.
  17. He can’t predict but I just think he has a habit of running and sliding around his goalmouth which sometimes puts him out of position- sort of the opposite of Pope who often just stands his ground. But there is no doubting his reflexes and agility and he did brilliantly overall.

Ramsay did go down quite easily but no-more than many other incidents when a player goes down in the area and they are not booked, again it is all about consistency. Also Banks went through a short spell of booking players for the most innocuous fouls. Ramsay’s initial booking was for a slight tug on Casiemero who flounced down like a ballet dancer. It was his first foul and on the half-way line and absolutely did not warrant a booking.

He absolutely was - pulled him right back - absolutely clear penalty that VAR just ignored. Sometimes I think we don’t complain enough.
  20. If Ramsdale stands still he saves that but as usual he is busy making the goal as big as possible for the attackers by going in the wrong direction
  21. He good as did that following his penalty save against City when he carried the ball over the line with that crazy slide into the net. Hope I’m proved wrong and he has a blinder, but Pope is a much more reliable keeper (even with his mistakes) imho.
  22. Don’t understand why the referees get all the blame. It is the players who are cheating and the managers who are endorsing and I assume encouraging it.

  24. He seems a really decent bloke who really cares, but the first rule of goalkeeping is to make the goal seem as small as possible to the attacker. Positioning, coming off your line and staying upright and as big as possible for as long as possible all help. He does not seem to be particularly good at any of these and the amount of times he ends up on his knees or on the deck wherever the shot has gone is crazy. Also he seems to have an odd habit of occasionally diving too soon or diving too late.
