  1. I had my doubts preseason but he's been great

TBH he didn't impress much in pre season friendlies but then I learnt a long time ago you cant go by those. The game against yourselves was his first start so really can only go by that. If he keeps up that workrate then he'll be the perfect midfield partner for Tanaka who to me is more creative. Thankfully Farke realises we can't go all gung ho as we did in the Championship, unlike Bielsa so yeah I think Longstaff can be important for us, especially with his Premiership experience which we are lacking in. Is he better, I'd say different he's more combative than had/have.

The way it should be, that's the same thoughts our members have re Newcastle possibly it's the one club city thing. Some Leeds fans have this mentality that twe are a massive club, we are support wise, but the days of being up there with the likes of the bin dippers, Arsenal, Man City and even now a reviving Newcastle are a distant past. Big support is great but results matter and we've had years of "Leeds are falling apart again" but one step at a time. 17th will do me grand this season lol

Must have perfected it at Manchester, I never hear anyone talking about them in the pub anymore.

I've heard people chatting about them in the pub, on a train and at work....... I'll give them a good talking too. Seriously not looking to take chat away from here, just things only the clubs fans my know that would be interesting to fans in general.

Lol yeah not a good time for anything LFC related here. Hopefully the mess is near sorted. From an outsiders POV I hope if it does come off he has a real mare there.

Hi guys We're starting this season with a section dedicated to each Premiership club. If you have anything interesting or think could be added please feel free to add it here https://lufcchat.boards.net/thread/26/newcastle-utd Or post a reply and I can copy it over. Please make it something we can actually post
  9. A great photo on Twitter showing him teary eyed clapping the away end. I personally love seeing players showing a connection with a team they grew up and developed with. He's a professional, he'll do a job for us, he did in this game but he's human and well done the away fans for the reception he got.
  10. No it's planned to be carried out in stages, there will of course be an impact on capacity whilst it's being done. No date set yet but I'd hazard a guess the 49ers will be looking how this season goes. Lots of season tick holders already asking about seat moves etc. this will help but theres still around 26k on the waiting list for season tickets.
  11. Couldn't do anything to it for years as we didn't own it from 2004 until it was bought back last year. Planning permission has been granted to refurbish and expand it to 56000 capacity. All those years struggling in league 1 and the championship didn't help.
  12. Happy with a point to steady the ship against a top side from last season. Pop over and discuss at lufcchat.co.uk
  13. whatever the outcome for this game, you guys are welcome to discuss it after the game at lufcchat.co.uk
  14. 3rd kit, I actually think it will outsell the home kit.

    Kevin Keegan

Ahh Jason Wilcox ..... memories lol
  16. Been played at N. Ireland games since a "certain" win in 2005... has been hijacked by England .... gets tin hat.

    St James' Park

I've disowned her, she flies off with the son in law and ends up in Newcastle not Leeds... kid's these days huh.

Guys we have a section on other premiership clubs, Newcastle United Here Any info you feel relevant, travelling to ground, decent pubs for away fans (god forbid) etc would be appreciated. A few pics my daughter sent today... some of you might have an idea where she is lol
  19. Basically a fantastic footballing brain and a wonderful eye for a pass. He was never quick but always seemed to have a yard of free space. He also wasn't afraid of a tackle. I do think he just enjoyed showing he could still do it after being let go by Man Utd. Hoping Longstaff can mirror this lol. He was also in a great midfield which probably helped alongside Speed, McAllister and Batty. We have a decent midfield now but all new to the Premiership (watch for Tanaka I think he'll do well in the Prem)
  20. Has done well in pre-season games for what they are worth. We've a history of getting good/great midfielders with mixed success. Took Strachan (showing my age) from Manure after they thought he was done and he was outstanding for us. More recently Pablo Hernandez was amazing but then of course there was Lee Sharp again from Manure who was terrible and worst of all ...drumroll ...straight from the Euros as the stand out player one Tomas Brolin a total muppet. If Longstaff can do half the job for us for a season or two as Strachan or Pablo then it's good business. If he does a Brolin will you take him back please.....
  21. I think this is spot on, don't see us worrying about CL football for quite a while so fingers crossed he gets back to the form he had. New challenges etc.
  22. Thanks. I honestly think we can buck the recent trend of straight up straight down. If we can finish within 10 places you you guys we'll be well safe but 2 or 3 places above the drop I'd be happy with. I do think there's a few existing teams who will struggle, more so than in recent seasons. We've recruited 6 (if Stach signs) new players but other than Longstaff they're mostly unknow. Can be risky but we've pulled a few gems over the past few seasons, Tanaka, Ramazani would be my stand out two of those to watch. As mentioned this is were Longstaff can be so important to us. Can't see Farke making the gung-ho Bielsa mistakes, although it was fun but frustrating to watch at times.
  23. Hi all. Leeds fan here. Just the sort of signing I think we need, premiership experience, good price and I've always thought he's been a great professional, along the lines of Milner. Interesting reading is thread, a mixed view. Anyway good luck for the season ahead. PS Will never forget my only visit to St. James Park. 7 of us and only 6 saw the game, can't remember who you where playing but one fella couldn't take his seat ans the vertigo kicked in.
