Jan window to be Benny's last shuffling of the cards...He needs to steer away from the stunning purchases of the likes of Kuyt (most shots off target top 10) no pace and Pennant (can't cross - won't cross).

Good chance he'll be out before Sammy Dice.

Would you have him here?

Err... I refuse to answer that question on the grounds I might incriminate myself...

I might consider it if he started working with Ayesteran again.  ;)

He'll get another year max.

He'll leave if he doesn't get money this January to fund an ambitious title assualt or he'll get sacked if they end up with nowt at the end of the season, or anything other than the CL or League or both.

He was brought in to mount a proper championship challenge and they aren't any nearer nearly three years later. They've been spending goodish amounts of cash as well. The real problem lies in his overly defensive style, which is alright for the odd cup run but long term the supporters have grown tired of it and its ability to deliver the big one.

Liverpool need to spend 60m in one window to win the league, same with any club looking to win it. Or find their Arsene Wenger. The former is more likely to yeild the title as the latter is rarer than a booless home match at SJP.

Benitez is overall a quality manager. I just think it's a case of wrong place wrong time for him at Liverpool. If he'd come into England a couple of years earlier then he'd be better off. The billionaires have certainly not helped. And if he went to a different club he'd have been more successful ;) should have been here after SBR's final season.

He's not defensive, it's that until Torres, he hadn't bought an attacking player that has any business in a top 4 side. We have as many shots on goal over a season as nearly any other team in the league, but our shots:goals ratio has been more in line with relegated sides. The best attacking performance from any of our strikers or wingers since Rafa arrived was the season spent on the wing by the central midfielder he inherited.

With his fetish for central midfielders and organisation, we can dominate games against Europe's biggest sides, but we don't have the attacking quality to break down the best sides or take our chances against weaker opposition.

Fair comment.

Your shots on goal ration suffers probably cause Gerrard shoots from anywhere at least 6 times a game.  bluerazz.gif

When will he get the boot?

No idea. Moores would still be backing him to the hilt, but the Americans are an unknown quantity. Rafa might just as easily walk away; it's not like he wouldn't get a lot of good offers.

Easily winning La Liga in his first season and his team played attacking football that at the time was as good as Arsenal's ever were. And this after selling off their best player (Mendieta).

Then two years later winning La Liga easily (again!) and winning the UEFA Cup.

He's a phenomenal manager. Two league titles in three years in Spain against Real and Barca is an amazing achievement.

So why is he failing in the league in England?

Maybe it's actually harder to win games in the Premiership than in La Liga. :kasper:
