Chelsea have a structure in place where everything they do is analysed and worked out so that it can be the best they can achieve.  They try to get the best person in every position at the club.  It won't always work, but it just gives you a much better chance of success.  Newcastle is just run to cut costs wherever possible and get by.  When you at least make an effort to be successful it doesn't guarantee anything, but it certainly helps.

Arsenal's injury record is certainly a bit of an anomaly.  If their talented players hadn't been injured quite so often, I think it's fair to say they'd have been a much bigger challenger for the title in some of the past few seasons.

TBF Wright's only the physio. You can't always blame the doctor if you keep getting ill.

Part of it comes from our penny-pinching. If you refuse to buy enough centre halves every summer with the justification being that you've got Steven Taylor fit again, then it's safe to say you can't really complain when he misses more days than the entire Watford squad on his own. Same goes for if you're buying known injury-prone players like Marveaux and de Jong because they're going cheap.

There's definitely something awry with our young players that we've never gotten to the bottom of like. Through the years, players like Kadar, Vuckic, Sammy, Aarons, Good, Ferguson all seem to spend far more time than is normal with consistent injury problems. Some of it has been sheer bad luck (broken legs during games for example) but it can't all be.

it's a bit like when your Dr tells you you shouldn't smoke or drink then you see him in the beer garden of your local having a pint and a fag

Aye I'm not singling out Wright, but surely as a healthcare and sports physio professional he could highlight issues and we would see an improvement over time.

Perhaps a thread rename - Derek Wright and the NUFC Physi-nos :p

Might just be me, like, but I'm always sceptical of healthcare professionals who are morbidly obese.

Like being treated by a dentist with no teeth.

You always look at the barber's hair.
