I am sick of the type of football we've been served this season and totally bewildered by some of the manager's team selections as I think are the majority of fans, but how many people were really booing or chanting against Allardyce on Saturday ?

If we believe the "popular" press (unfortunately now including the BBC) most of SJP was booing and "thousands" were streaming from the stadium when the third goal went in.

Well I was there and very few were booing - even in a 52,000 crowd it only takes a few hundred to make booing audible - and very few left after the third goal.

Sure the usual people we're beating the rush with ten minutes to go but those people leave when we're winning 3-2 in really exciting games anyway.

Around me I didn't see anyone joining the scousers and singing against Allardyce - in fairness I did hear it from other parts - and some fans even got very radgy against the chanting.

This is no defence of Allardyce or his team who frankly were appalling, but a contradiction of the rubbish spouted on Sky TV etc. At a guess I'd say less than 10% of the fans made any audible protest, the majority just sat in stunned silence and some even audibly defended the manager.

On another note are there any stattos out there who could answer the question when was the last time we played at SJP and didn't get a corner (I can't remember one on Saturday) or have one shot on target ?

Can't make my mind up on the booing. A large part of me thinks it's pathetic (I prefer to give no thanks, ie I just didn't clap at full time on Sat) but then I fully respect the rights of those who wish to voice their opinion where it will be noticed. Say what you like on here, but at the ground in front of the TV cameras is where people take note.

I was actually surprised at how full the ground stayed. It was only with about 5 minutes to go that people were leaving in large numbers.

Its the same ones who walk out early every week that piss me off. I notice the same people who go early(more than 10 minutes) every game, and they are usually the ones who come in late and take a good half hour for half time. Shame that the football gets in the way of their drinking time.

I was as dissapointed as anyone but our fans are a joke at the mo, in past weeks we have chanted for Martins to come off the bench, then moaned and groaned everytime hes missed a chance or lost the ball, chanted for Milner to come on then moaned as he has come on and dissapointed, Now we want rid of SA, so what we get rid and move onto the next saviour then piss and moan if he does not take us into top 4 within 10-15 games.

Surely you mean 'moaned as he has come on the left wing and has to cut back onto his strong foot to even have a chance of performing'.

I'm sorry mate, but the result on Saturday was (glaringly) obviously down to one man alone and his inability to pick a balanced team in a familiar formation, and use his substitutes wisely.

Blind faith must be a wonderful skill to master, but also a very risky one.

Iam not defending SA, iam saying we always think better is round the corner, who do we REALISTICALLY replace him with?, people calling for Mourinho are a joke.

He can deliver with his left and scored from that position reecently, so thats not fair about Milner playing there.

The lad above makes a good point which you ignore. Chanting for Martins then moaning at his mistakes. Ignoring the Milner incident for now, how about the excessive moaning at players who make one mistake in the first 10 minutes with the score at 0-0. Like they did on sat and just like they were doing at the Villa game on day 1 at sjp this season. What about that mentality?

I think thats what #9 was getting at.

I can't answer that question, I don't know. All I know is that as things stand we are going nowhere.

But if you haven't got a solution then all we'd be doing is change for changes sake and look where that's got us in the past.  Maybe we should try a different approach this time and back the manager, give him reasonable time and "support" the team?  You know, something crazy like that.

Going no where just now, and hes made lots of mistakes, but iam sure he will get us a top half finish and hopefully learn from the last few weeks, i just think we should support him as theres no better options out there and the bloke is a proven good(not great) manager and unless we are sure of getting someone in a whole diffrent class to him theres no point or anything to gain sacking him.

Iam in no way defending the last 4 games selections or performances.

The booing at the substitutions was fucking loud by SJP standards like.  Completely audible chants of "Big Sam for England", and a "Wheeeeey!" and applause when we heard what the scousers were singing about him.

Had to laugh at "One shot,  we've only had one shot" then about 10minutes later when Martins sent a wayward effort over the bar "Two shots, we've only had two shots". Had to  laugh or you'd cry at that point...

Did seem like people were streaming out after the goal but it must have just been a small amount of people leaving in a very short time cos you couldn't see any gaps after that, still full of unfortunate punters till pretty much the death.

Most people will argue, we gave Souness and Roeder time and look what that did, the huge diffrence is that SA will not take us down or leave us with a championship quality team..like the souness and roeder did

Sacking Big Sam would just be ludicrous at this point. Who in their right mind would come in knowing that they had 6 month to win the league, the fa cup and beat the mackems 23 nil or the crowd would turn on him. Patience is what we need at the moment. If we keep on sacking managers we will achieve fuck all.

Indeed recent performances have been pretty indefencible.

However my point is that I reckon at least 90% of the crowd did NOT boo, leave after the 3rd goal or join in the scousers anti-Sam songs but the media would have us believe almost everyone did.

Truth is the majority of people ARE being patient despite watching awful football and bewidering team selections.

Hey people can leave when they like, just a shame that some* of them come back again for the next match.

*not meaning anyone specific, before anyone gets their rag on.

I wouldn't blame anyone who did leave early and some booing was inevitable. The songs aimed at Allardyce by our own 'fans' was another matter for me though.
