Thorpinho
Even if we could tempt him here, as soon as he says he is leaving there would surely be a lot of clubs interested better than us. We would play him as a creative central midfielder - i can understand why you forgot that position as we haven't seen anyone play in it since Allardyce came here! Luc
Since we don't have one, bring in a born leader. Problem solved.

Guest JamesD
Beye. Please. He's probably the only untouchable outfield player, so he'd get my vote.
sparta
a leader in the field is all nice and that, but a leader in the dressing room can be just as effective! soeh... given! i have "given" you a good go!

Guest criminalz
smith, because given is a keeper, pretty hard to motivate the man when you are at the end of the field. If he makes some good saves, it is motivating enough, dun need the armband. smith, because butt seems too quiet and small to be listened to. smith, because most of the time, pple cant figure out if viduka is playing until he falls to win a penalty. smith, because taylor is still too young. smith, because barton is going to jail, again. smith, because emre keeps reminding the rest of the players about david beckham penalty miss. smith, because no one else seems to WANT IT!!! Guest interceptor
He should heal the wounds, and prove his confidence in his goalscoring ability by giving it to Michael Owen. Plus it sends out a message to the whole team that its all about goals, goals, goals and getting service into the box as much as humanly possible. That is the most important part of the pitch... James
Indeed, he will ask the 27-year-old to lead the team out against Bolton tonight as a new era in the club's history gets underway. Keegan said: "Not only will he play, I will make him captain. He is the right guy to lead us - and that tells you what I think of him.
Guest Ridzuan
Fantastic news! Owen as captain! I didnt thought that Keegan would do that but he did and it is a right choice indeed.Owen will lead by example, just the right person for the role. Guest NIToon
Keegan's first clever move. Firstly it stops all the sh1t stirring by the tabloids about their relationship and may also motivate the little fella to think about football instead of the GG's. Kudos Kev
Guest interceptor
Now been confirmed by Sky Sports that Owen will be the captain - including quotes from KK "Not only will he play, I will make him captain. He is the right guy to lead us - and that tells you what I think of him," insisted Keegan. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_3060222,00.html I'm pleased. Good choice Well done Kev
