The amount of investment they've got now is unbelievable, to even think of the vast amounts of money that the Mittals could, if they wished to, invest is mind-boggling. With this in mind, if Mittal is actively providing transfer money, for QPR to be promoted next season. With a strong challenge made for the Premiership made within the next 10 years, if they remain at the club. Scary news, if only it had happened to us. :(

They wont be splashing the cash in a hurry. It is just something to keep the son-in-law busy, who does a few things in sport. The last time a Mittal invested in club football it didn't work out.

If Newcastle want Mittal cash then I suggest they get there arse to India & the domestic Indian game, as Lakshmi  Mittal (THE ONE WITH CASH) is pumping loads of £££'s into domestic Indian football.

I doubt if anybody could be arsed about the domestic indian game or that it's high on anybody's " must see a game there " list.

Well 5th richest man in the world is interested & Manchester United are involved so its not a bad start for the Indian game.

If he was really serious about football he'd have bought or at least attempted to buy a big club....Everton or even try to see if the owners of Liverpool fancied cashing in, Birmingham would have been a better buy than QPR.

Liverpool maybe, but I'd say QPR, being in London, is a better bet than Everton or Brum.  Think of the wags, man! They rule the roost these days.  ;)

Sniffer: Looks like a few clubs are getting involved in India now.

Arsenal forge links with India - 23/12/07

Arsenal has announced an initiative intended to give it a foothold in India. The club is to set up a football tournament and coaching programmes in partnership with Tata Tea, the beverage unit of the Tata conglomerate. It is also considering establishing a football academy in the country. More clubs are likely to try and tap into the Indian market (see story below).

English clubs failing to tap Indian market - 13/12/07

English clubs should try and be more involved with the Indian market, writes our correspondent in India,Rahul Gill of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. It would be a win-win situation for both parties with India lacking a successful domestic league. 72 million homes have cable TV and can see the Premiership. India has more homes with cable TV than the whole of Europe combined. India also had a record number of viewers for the last World Cup, indicating the potential in the market. On his recent visit, Chelsea's Peter Kenyon talked to AIFF officials and announced that the club would tour India. The Indian club Mahindra United has had proposals from Arsenal and Liverpool for small training camps for coaches. Benefits of the Indian market could be obtained because of the large size of the Indian commumity in England. When Leicester were in the Premiership they were linked with the Indian club East Bengal to appeal to the large Indian community in Leicester. Our correspondents asks whether it is lack of awareness about the Indian market that explains the relative lack of attention? Another explanation would focus on the mass popularity of other sports, particularly cricket, in India.

Yeah, it's worked out great for Al Fayed and Fulham hasn't it?

Who gives a shit about London? 90% of the place is a hole.

f*** me

They could win the title in 2 years if they wanted! Scary

Nah, really don't see the potential in QPR. Strange move.

Chelsea and Fulham are next door, and their fanbase is limited.  While there is no scope for development of Loftus Road.

It doesn't matter how much money you have, getting quality players to QPR is going to be virtually impossible.

Ya never know, them achieving something within 3 years isnt gonna be too strange a thought. Significant investemnt will get them into the premiership easily. There's gotta be some reason why they're all investeing, theres gotta be some money making potential there, if not, thats even more worrying for everyone becasue it means the club is nothing more or less than a toy for the fat cats. It would make the job irresistable for any manager to know there would be unlimited spending.

Fayed hasn't spent that big though in football terms. Fulham are very much a selling club, losing Saha, Boa Morte, VDS, Malbranque and never backing Coleman. They spent a bit this summer, but that'll be down to the new extra TV monies.
