Dan Gleebals
how many 16,17,18 and 19 year old strikers do we need? Buy 10 and hope 1 makes it - crazy. Owen and Rooney proved they could do it at the age of 16/17 so surely if these players really are that good they would have either made it or been snapped up already. Just a thought. Obviously the club don't think our youth teams/reserves have enough quality, and are trying to bring some in. The bit in bold is funny btw.
Guest Heneage
Does he mean like Berbatov? or Gomis? or Villa? Come on being naive.

nobby_solano
he didn't get signed up at palace until he was 22, and went on to play at the highest level until he was about 35, being top scorer at the arse for about 6 years, and breaking a club scoring record. not bad for someone who hadn't been given a chance to prove their ability until they were 22, not 16/17 like rooney or owen

I was pointing to the fact we seem to be signing or targeting alot of player in this age bracket, put differently, should we need to sign so many in the hope one of them makes it? So only one of them can make it? not two or more? Or is that being just silly?

Guest Sniffer
Isn't his point quality, not quantity? When you look at the results of our academy over the years it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of end product.
junkhead
The 16 year old Bulgarian kid too. obviously, he's still a kid.. but he has captained the U16s on several occasions and has already been on trial at Leverkusen.. so maybe there's some potential there also, there are two other bulgarian kids that are on trial at NUFC, they're both strikers and one of them - Ivan Stoyanov is very highly regarded, apparently he's the league top goalscorer, having scored 40 goals in less than 20 games and he's an year younger than the other players in the league. He's been granted some sort of a special permission to play for the 'older' age group (youth leagues here are divided according to the birth year of the player).. so yeah, well done to the ex-mackem that scouts Bulgaria

Syrette
I can't believe someone is actually complaining about bringing a few young players in for the future. Some fans will find something to complain about in anything.
