BlueStar
So we sell Owen to Spurs and replace him with Berbatov? Good plan, we should give Spuds a call and point out it'd be better to sell Berb to us rather than their top four rivals.

Mag-ic
Despite the fact that he's a little bitch bell-end, if Joe Cole's going anywhere for £10m we should be in for him.
Thespence
NEWCASTLE have failed in a sensational bid for Ruud van Nistelrooy — but are intent on pulling off an equally stunning signing in the next fortnight. Kevin Keegan last night admitted he hopes to bring in FOUR more players before the transfer window closes on August 31. United owner Mike Ashley is hellbent on one of them being a superstar capable of boosting flagging ticket sales at St James’s Park. And sources in Spain last night confirmed that Newcastle approached both Van Nistelrooy and Real Madrid in an attempt to land the Dutch striker following the Euro 2008 finals. Story continues Continue story ADVERTISEMENT But with their recruitment duo of Jeff Vetere and Tony Jimenez being told that there was no chance of a deal, Newcastle became one of five clubs in England and Italy to make a thwarted approach for Van Nistelrooy this summer. However, Ashley and Keegan are still aiming high, with Van Nistelrooy’s Madrid team-mate Javier Saviola on their radar. And Newcastle have also made an approach for yet another Argentinian — Real Mallorca striker Oscar Trejo. West Brom maintain hopes of landing Trejo, 20, as well as his club-mate Borja Valero. But Mallorca’s sporting director Nando Pons said: “Newcastle have contacted directly with us and the answer is the same one we gave to West Bromwich Albion: we will not sell.” Keegan, on the eve of his side’s Premier League opener at Manchester United, said: “I think we will get at least two more signings here, maybe three and, who knows, possibly four.” http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/sundaysun/tm_headline=toon-fail-in-ruud-bid%26method=full%26objectid=21547250%
Incognito
If we want 10 mill for Milner, and Villa want 18 mill for Barry,10 mill ain't gonna buy half of Joe Cole.Utter bullshit imo.

I agree with the principle, but who thought we'd get Duff for £5m at the time? Chelsea don't need the cash, and if Cole did want to leave...

Guest sondre
if ruud going to us... i am going to be mental no.1 striker of the world.... nee chanceeeeeee!!!! Almost creamed my pants reading this. The best goalscorer in the world, would add a massive punt of ££££ to Big Mike's wallet. Would fit nicely in the club's plans to make us a "world club" as well, as he is well known and admired all over.
LooneyToonArmy
don`t see why Van Nistelrooy would be interested in coming to us even if we offered him tons of money (which he will be on anyway with Real). Living in Madrid, good weather, champions league football etc. Not a fkin chance but nice to dream

The best goalscorer in the world, would add a massive punt of ££££ to Big Mike's wallet. Would fit nicely in the club's plans to make us a "world club" as well, as he is well known and admired all over. No chance for two reasons. 1. Van Nistelrooy is valueable to Real, he's their main striker. 2. I can't see him wanting to move here for various reasons. However, if this is true, it's nice to see us going for this sort of player.
