colinmk
Where is your evidence it did him some good? You have none. Carroll improved as a player because he got games when we dropped down a division. The Carroll at the start and end of that season were like two completely different strikers. Nowt to do with Preston North End. As far as I am concerned first team experience is vital to youngsters and cannot fail to do them some good. Even if he played shite, the experience is vital. Thespence
AC said “My time at Preston was up and down,” “I didn’t play as many games as I wanted (11) and only scored one goal but it was good experience to be round the first team at 18. Being with the squad was good experience for me.” “It was a bit disappointing. Preston were in bit of trouble and the manager (Rob Kelly) got sacked. It was chop and change for everyone.”
Thespence
As this whole thread is about Ranger I don't see how sending Ranger out for the same would be a bad thing in any way, shape or form. If he is out loan it could prove harder for Pards to dump him

If he signs a 3 month loan deal a club wont be able snap him up until Jan. There seems a few clubs willing to buy Nile so may as well not bother with a loan deal. Likewise he says "It was a bit disappointing"

Theregulars
Stupid decision, honour your long-term commitment to a young talent. If he has issues, work through them. Disagree with any assertion that he's crap, he's got the raw abilities to turn into a decent player.
TherealnorthernTOON
Might just be a mindtrick to bust his world up. Before they build him back together as a new person.

Disagree with any assertion that he's crap, he's got the raw abilities to turn into a decent player. He probably could be a decent player in time, but his attitude off the field seems to be piss poor by all accounts and he also seems a complete and utter tit who's more interested in being all straight G yo than he is in improving himself as a footballer (as evidenced by the fact that he hasn't improved at all as a footballer since he got here). Not only does this shit attitude really hinder any potential development, but it's also a very negative presence at the club. If he was some sort of special talent then maybe you put up with it, but he's not so the negatives of having him around outweigh the potential gain IMO. Guest BooBoo
Agree with Shak. In the words of Silvio Dante, "all things considered, there's nothing to be gained by keeping him around."

I can see your point, especially when our revival has been built around good team spirit and attitude - but do you not think with a commitment that long we must have seen something worthwhile in him? I just think that, instead of ditching him, try and work through his attitude problems for a while and see if we can sort him out. I've no idea why he behaves like such a dickpole, but perhaps it's something deeper-lying than just being a rudeboy, perhaps he has some genuine attitude issue (wasn't he in prison or something) that maybe could be worked through, and thereafter a real decent player could be found? I'm just not one for giving up on players really easily. We should exhaust all avenues - either try and give him some mental help if he needs it, send him out on loan to see what kind of job he could do in the Championship, something like that. Just binning him because he behaves like a tit isn't progressive. As someone pointed out earlier, a scare tactic would be a great thing in my opinion, but I doubt Pardew is genuinely that forward-thinking. By the way this doesn't mean I think binning Smith is bad. I would actually physically put Smith in a bin and push him down Barrack Road, sausage roll styleeee.

Guest
Millwall want him according to the Chronicle, but won't pay £1m. So we're going to lose Ranger & Coloccini to Millwall & Sevilla for nothing. Brilliant.

AyeDubbleYoo
Still don't understand why so many people seem to relish in writing off Ranger and slagging him off. So he's a young lad who's a bit of a G, so what? He's got time to sort his attitude, although the signs aren't good. Joey Barton and Andy Carroll have done far worse stuff. RupertCommunicator
Loan him to Milwall, he'll soon learn to stick in at training up here I can just imagine what will be said when he turns up late for training! It'd be like the last scene from 'Casino', but with added "You facking muggy caahnt, facking mugging me aahf you cahhhnt!"s thrown at him.

It's not just his attitude that is the problem. There is also the fact that he is extremely rubbish at playing football.
