Kinnear, RE: Owen -- "I Don't Know What's Going to Happen"

Recommended Posts

owen will be going- was on the cards from the day he signed...imo

Your Christmas hat is brown. Why?

And yes, I think Owen's time is probably spent here now. Wouldn't be surprised to see Viduka moving on as well. Think Butt and Ameobi will end up staying though.

is it brown?

oops, i am actually colour blind.

Mate, my apologies.

I'm not concerned about the individuals in that list, bar Harper and arguably Owen, but at the end of the day - it's still seven players we have to replace/improve on in the summer. That's gonna take a lot of business and it's certainly a worry with the club still firmly wedged in this state of limbo. If Ashley isn't goint to sell the club, then he needs to take it off the market and commit himself, in my opinion. But i doubt he wants to do that.

Completely agree. God knows who and how many players we'll be able to attract if we're still stuck in limbo in the Summer (hopefully having stayed in the Premier League).

this tho, epitimises my argument, that players contacts, should be pro-rata,..ie, four years of be-ing available and fit, or a set number of games...eg 160 game contracts.

That wouldn't be a contract for some players, that would be a life sentence. Viduka, Owen, etc. "I hereby sentence you to play 160 games for Newcastle United."

If I were the manager I'd have no regrets over selling Butt, Owen, Viduka and Shola this window. It's a massive risk, because we'll struggle without them, especially in attack, and we barely have enough players to make up a match squad, but we need a clear-out and from a financial viewpoint, I'd rather recoup some money now then have them for another 6 months, so that they can fuck off for free.

although Butt would be quite handy as a squad player, I think it's vital to not offer him a new deal. I have the feeling that whoever is the manager, he'll play Butt in the starting 11 because of his stature and reputation and I'm sick of Nicky Butt starting every damn game.

I'm no fan of Owen, so I'll spare you the bullshit, but I think that if we receive a good offer for him in January, we'll have no choice but to accept.. regardless how important he could be for our survival.

I really hope uncle Joe sees the bloody obvious and targets some midfielders, because that's where we lose our games.

Finding buyers & them willing to move when they can Bosman in the summer which should help them get a bit extra ££'s may prove a problem.

I doubt any of the players out of contract at the end of the season will leave in January. It isn't in their interest. Leave now to go where we get offers for you from or take your pick in the Summer and get bigger wages as they haven't paid a fee for you.

At the moment we haven't an alternative to playing Butt. Who else is there? Barton is injured. Geremi?

Michael Owen has been turning up at the Newcastle United training ground at 9am most days to spend an hour working alone with his private sprint coach. Anxious about the loss of his England place, the erstwhile international striker then joins the rest of the club's squad for training sessions choreographed by Joe Kinnear.

"I don't think Michael is 100%, he's had some niggly injuries," admitted the Newcastle manager yesterday. "But he is working extremely hard and has got his own specialist sprint trainer. That says a lot about his attitude. He is not super-fit yet but he is always liable to score."

They have to put that in. Apart from that is Mickey brining his own people in to the NUFC training ground!!! Most expensive player at the club ever in money paid for & wages & he has to bring his own man in. The club should be paying for this imo, cant they use the money saved on not making a statue for Al to pay this bloke.

At the end of the day model professional and hasn't moaned at all when he has been here.

I wish people could see that and forget about the torrid time he has had with injurys. They were not his fault at all and at least he is going to see out his contract which is alot more than can be said for other jum-ship c***s that cry in the media.

Mind you there is an 80% chance kinnear doesnt know what's going to happen.

There's a 92.45% chance that stat you've quoted is entirely made-up, and that actually none of us has a clue what is going to happen.

Owen's just been on 5Live. said that there's no snub from him to newcastle, or vice versa,  to a new contract because the people who he was negotiating a new contract with have all left the club.  that and the club has more important things to worry about at the moment than tying up the contracts of the players.
