We should pay him the whole amount in 5p pieces, make him count every single one to make sure that we're not underpaying him.

You better be yanking me mother fuking chain mate.

I'm not sure if its £2m but he will get a 7 figure loyalty fee, for staying the duration.

Part of his contract, when he'd expected to be off after a year or two.

Yep pretty standard clause in contracts these days. The club should leak the amount to the press and embarass the little fucker iyam. He doesn't really deserve another penny out of the club.

Brummie, what would you say if you actually got him?

Pleased? Pissed off?

I can see a lot of supporters of many clubs being absolutely delighted to get Owen. Thinking they were getting the Owen of old, there is still the imjpression out there even amongst our own own fans that Owen has just been struggling because he's been playing for NUFC.

Whether that's true or not is open to debate.

I'm no expert when it comes to contracts or anything so wondering what the difference between footballers and just a regular receptionist for example. If the the receptionist does a shite job then she would just be fired, why can't Owen just be fired for performing his job badly? It is just the way all footballers contracts are drawn up?

they can be fired but it has to be down to grounds of serious unprofessional conduct.  Adrian Mutu got fired from chelsea when he was caught with coke.

Its madness anyone being given a loyalty bonus just because they seen out a contract that they legally signed.

Different world.

The problem is the contract they legally signed contained a loyalty clause.

Martin O'Neill has this evening dismissed stories suggesting Villa have offered Michael Owen a two-year contract.

O'Neill has hit back after newspaper reports suggested the club were ready to hand the England striker almost £3m per season - with a further 12 month option dependent on injuries and goals.

No smoke without fire?

I can see him jumping at the chance to go to Villa actually

I think people here more than anywhere will know Owen's priority is England so he'll be desperate to play alongside Heskey who is the current flavour of the month up front for the national side

5p's are too kind. Pennies would be better.

I dunno about this. On a pay as you play deal maybe or somet contract with the right to kick him out if injuries give us the excuse.

I wonder if MON will see this as the chance to play him alongside Heskey all the frigging time, though.
