FORMER Scotland, Tottenham and Swindon defender Colin Calderwood has joined Newcastle United as a first-team coach.

Calderwood, who was at the training ground today, had initially been cool on talk he was moving to Tyneside.

However, once Joe Kinnear heard the former Nottingham Forest boss was keen to get back into the game following his City Ground exit, he made moves to bring him to St James’s Park to help work with the defence.

Kinnear told the Chronicle: "We have Colin Calderwood on board now, and he will be joining us until the end of the season to bring something else to our backroom team."

Reputed to be a good coach. Fingers crossed he can help get the players all pulling in the right direction again once the window shuts.

Brian Kidd, Sammy Lee, even Steve McClaren et al. Reputedly good coaches. Terrible managers.

No... Coming in as a coach which he seems to be better at than actually managing.

Oh dear Kínnear! Did you bring your great pal from Forest to Newcastle because he's a good mate of yours or because he is a brilliant coach??

For fucks sake, why have a pop over this? What does it matter if he is indeed a good coach?
