Any news on the trailist's names?

Still trying to find if we've taking in any new youth players this season other then the few we already had that were promoted:

Andy Mogwo & co as quoted on wiki.

Reserves game at Croft Park against Blyth Spartans on Tuesday is in aid of the Sir Bobby Robson foundation.

Think the majority of the local lads will be playing below where we are now. Zamblera, Danquar etc will be abroad (possibly lower leagues) and Lua Lua, Vuckic will stick with us or go onto bigger and better things

That's the trend, been looking over where past youths have gone and most end up in none league (Newcastle Blue Star, Blyth, Gateshead), or League 2 at a push. Only been a few youth products make it much higher, and even then those are from the 'early' years so shouldn't really count as football was different then.

Credit to Chris Basham he worked hard to get where he is now. Aaron Hughes Premiership, Edgar, I'll see if I can find my list, but its by no means complete yet, of where players ended up after being released. Still need to add players, and what clubs they went to, and remove players that aren't 100% Newcastle products (seem to have a few reserve players who came from other teams in there).

Gateshead, if you look at Gatesheads team now 3,4,5 years ago the likes of Baxter, Cave and Gate etc were playing for our academy/reserves.

Alan Thompson went on to play for England, further than Clark & Elliott although didn't really hang around at NUFC for long before going to Bolton in search of 1st team football.

There's only about 2 players on that list i haven't seen play, some poor players on it as well!!!  Although some are down as defenders when they were midfielders, forwards who were midfielders and vice versa!  Bradley Orr was always a decent player, think he's captain of Bristol City now.

I want to be like Zog says Wes

Aug 4 2009  by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle

WESLEY Ngo Baheng is hoping that he can follow in the footsteps of Charles N’Zogbia at St James’s Park – only for all the right reasons.

The French teenager made his way down what has become a well-trodden path back in January 2008 after joining United from Le Havre’s youth set-up, just like N’Zogbia did four years earlier in the Sir Bobby Robson era.

Fiery Frenchman N’Zogbia was part of the Robson legacy on Tyneside, with the flying winger once able to walk on the Tyne after a string of sizzling performances and his eye for goal, not least his solo effort in the 4-1 drubbing of Sunderland back in 2006.

However, it wasn’t all sweetness and light for N’Zogbia in Newcastle and the French Under-21 international left Toon under a cloud.

Not only was N’Zogbia furious after being called Charles Insomnia by ex-boss Joe Kinnear, a bitter punch-up at the training ground with Andy Carroll – which needed to be separated THREE times – meant that the winger had no future at Newcastle and he left in a swap deal for Ryan Taylor last January.

But even though Baheng has not made his full senior debut for Newcastle, he has a story to tell that is equally as intriguing.

Scouted during the Sam Allardyce era but signed under Kevin Keegan, Ngo Baheng picked up a horror knee injury in the Northumberland Senior Cup final in 2008.

While trying to impress KK he ended up stretchered off and facing a 12-month lay-off.

And if the old saying that a week ‘is a long time in football’, then a year must have felt like a lifetime for Baheng.

For when he did eventually return to the fray at Newcastle, Keegan – who appreciated Baheng’s attacking style – was gone, Chris Hughton was in caretaker charge for a second time and Joe Kinnear, the man appointed in between, was recovering in a hospital bed after a triple heart bypass operation.

Then by the time he was back in action again Alan Shearer had arrived to try to save the Mags.

Baheng told United Front: “When I was first injured in the Northumberland Senior Cup game at St James’s, I was close to the first team when Kevin was in charge.

“I was training with the first team on a regular basis and that made it all so frustrating for me.

“It was a long road but I have to thank the people who helped me through it at the club.

“It was a long rehab but they kept me going along with my friends and team-mates.”

Baheng’s main focus now is simply to pull on a black-and-white shirt at first-team level.

He enjoyed a taste of it during United’s pre-season friendlies and made an impact in the opener against Shamrock Rovers during the club’s mini-tour of Ireland.

He said: “I came to Newcastle the same route as Charles. But now time has moved on and I must just stay focused on play-ing for Newcastle United.

“That is the target and that is my dream.

“It would be an honour to play for Newcastle’s first team and show the great fans what I can do.”

Like the rest of the Toon fringe players, Baheng is simply eager to show what he has to offer.

He said: “There are a bunch of players who will be keen to show what they’ve got.

“It will be competitive but I hope I am ready for the challenge. I just need to stay fit and keep focused.”
