If NUFC ceased to exist so too would any interest I have for the game outside of youth football. I couldn't imagine nowt worse than following a club formed out of protest because you don't like the people who run your own club. To me that's no different than going out and supporting another Premier League club. Its a moot point anyway because NUFC will never cease to exist. It may drop down a division or 3 or go bust but as long as there is an entire city willing to follow its fortunes good or bad, it will forever be the institution it is, even if in name only.

We can't even agree on a supporters club man...

 

Theoretically it isn't impossible however.

 

I could easily draw up a working business plan to raise the money needed to buy Newcastle United, but it would require intelligent business men and backing to lead it and succeed. It isn't impossible though.

 

Long-term, I genuinely think it would be in everyone's best interest if clubs like ours were owned by fans and it would personally be a dream of mine in the same way people dream of winning the league or a cup, to see NUFC owned by the very people it belongs to.

I support Newcastle because its my club, its an extension of who I am, my culture, my city and us as Geordies in the same way the Tyne Bridge for me says "home" or hyem. It is as much a part of me as my dialect is or my birth certificate which reads born General Hospital making me a Geordie and you can't change that. You could go and live in London and eventually take on a southern accent but you will forever be a Geordie. People need to remember NUFC is untouchable, that badge, that name and what it represents. It certainly doesn't represent top-flight football or trophies or any of that lets be honest bull shit. It represents (for me) who I am and where I'm from and what my city and Geordies are all about.
